Lots. Off the top of my head:
- Final Fight
- Final Fantasy VI
- Dino Crisis
- Onimusha
- Parasite Eve
- Breath of Fire
I want a frame-for-frame remake of the original Deus Ex.
I'd settle for a basic upgrade into something like Unreal Engine 5 or CryEngine or Snowdrop, but I'd also like the Black Mesa treatment where the people remaking it sort of take some creative liberties but still pay homage to the original. It would need some updates to the gameplay, but I'd be OK with certain changes provided it still stays more RPG than action (as most modern action-rpg's are more action and just token RPG aspects).
While we are at it...
I generally dislike remasters, but I am all in favor of remakes as they bring classic games up to modern standards, while giving us the potential for improvements to gameplay and more. Until I get tired of them, I say do all the remakes they can!
Awww, why none?
These are remakes, not remasters.
Remasters? Yeah. Those are lame cashgrabs.
But remakes? There's opportunity for familiarity and nostalgia, but also something new! best of both worlds. Black Mesa, System Shock, Resident Evil, and so on.
Because they change the games entirely, gameplay, music, graphics, settings, the whole lot, and then they add content also. May as well just create a sequel.
Breath of Fire III - IV - Dragon Quarter, Valkryie Profile Silmeria and Tales of Rebirth.
Yes. I LOVE Breath of Fire 3-4! That and Skies of Arcadia are my picks for wanted remakes! (and Phantasy Star 1-4)
Xenogears
This also But could I trust SE to do it justice when they sold Monolith Soft so short the first time? Let Monolith Soft (now Nintendo) make it and I'm all in, SE who knows nothing about Xenogears? Not so much.
Xenogears. I loved SE final fantasy but xenogears is the best JPRG of that era. Sadly we wont see any remake for this game.

Its like a cover song.... There are familiar things about it and a comfort to it, but at the end of the day the original is best because it was authentically designed for a time and place. As a lifelong fan of gaming to see us prioritize our love for what has been should never exceed our desire for what can be... Remakes, for me at least, represent the end of pure creativity within big budget gaming. The more they pump out the more they are waving the white flag of creativity at the feet of profiting off nostalgia.... Ie, cover songs... Movie rehashes with modern actors and cinematography.... As someone who has truly loved watching the development of human thought and ideas in this medium, nothing stands out as a stunting of big budget games than remakes.
Thank God for indie developers.

Awww, fair enough.
I do love a good cover song, though. And you get those rare moments when the cover is (arguably) better or, at the very least, as good as, the original (i.e. "Hurt" by Johnny Cash is every bit as good as the original by NIN).
I respect your opinions though, not trying to change any minds :)

I do agree there are stand outs.... Don't get me wrong. It's not that some Devs don't execute on making a good cover song, it's just that as a whole? This big budget area of game development that can make ANYTHING the winds of creativity take them CHOOSE to make the same games? It seems preposterous with all that at their disposal.
Star Ocean 3 Til the End of Time has badly needed a remake ever since it was made, and no, the Director’s Cut was not sufficient. It could’ve been almost as good as Second Story, but some major mechanics, design, and QOL flaws held it back. Retconning that massive awful plot twist would be nice too, but it’s probably too embedded in the story to take out.
The recent Second Story remake (or remake of a remake, as it was) went very good (especially in the QOL department) and was well received, so let’s fix up it’s lesser sequel.
The games I think really need a remake are:
Because they change the games entirely, gameplay, music, graphics, settings, the whole lot, and then they add content also. May as well just create a sequel.
Some games that were made in that era/time weren't made to last for generations is why most need a Remake.
@davillain: I disagree, as I said, when they remake them, they change everything that makes the original a classic.
FF7 remakes are a perfect examples of that, sure the characters names are the same, and same goes for the towns, but EVERYTHING else changes to the point they're not comparable to the original.
I play a lot of retro these days, and have no problem going back playing older games. Sure some control schemes need to be re-learnt but that's to be expected.
I'm a firm believer of leaving the classics alone and just create sequels if you want to revisit a games universe.
I agree with this. I used to want a Twilight Princess remake, but I just want a new game now. I realized that my desire for another Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask was me wanting the new Zelda to be darker. And I still think that. I believe there's room for a darker Zelda.
@luxuryheart: See there's nothing wrong with wanting Nintendo to do darker/mature games.
That's all I want from Nintendo. I wish more sheep would realise this. Can't keep playing the same kiddy games for 40+ years.
Sheep do realize this, but we also like Nintendo now as well. This is a common misconception about Sheep, and it's only ever about Sheep for some reason. Just because we like Nintendo and continue to buy their systems, that doesn't mean we like every aspect about them. Like every one who has ever been a fan of anything, we do have some criticisms. We just like and support them in spite of it.
Also, there's room for Zelda to be darker, but some games should stay child friendly. I don't want Mario being dark and edgy. Honestly, my unpopular opinion is that when things get into public domain, specifically stuff like Winnie the Pooh, too many people rush to make an edgy and gritty horror movie about them. It's my gripe with a lot of Alice in Wonderland movies as well. I really wish they'd go more into the colorful and fantastical aspects of Alice in Wonderland, as opposed to the edgy and gritty Tim Burton like version. There's room for dark works and heavy, adult themes, but some things need to be kid friendly and light hearted and colorful.

I'm not Saying Nintendo has to make EVERYTHING mature, just some games because they have zero variety atm, its kids games and nothing else.
Parasite Eve; after playing FF7 Remake and experiencing the gameplay, particularly Aerith and Barret, I thought that it would be perfect for Parasite Eve, also people tend to want the things that are out of their reach and for license issues it is very hard for this remake to happen, but hey, we got Marvel vs Capcom collection and that also seemed very improbable.
Remaking a game is much better than making nothing. Sadly gamers donot understand this.
You think studios would just sit and roll their thumbs if they couldn't do a remake?
Yes. without Remakes Resident Evil series wont survive.
RE2 remake and now RE4 remake saved the franchise. improving over previous titles and finally made masterpieces.
lets take example. Valve not making Half life 3. neither they will release it. so they are making nothing. its better remaking Half life 2 than making nothing. of course making HL3 is better but REMAKING GAME IS BETTER THAN DOING FKING NOTHING!!!.
that's what I have been saying to those who are allergic to remakes.
Remakes and new games can co exist. why not? RE9 just announced with RE4 remake just released.
Not one for remakes but if offered a ground up remake of Halo 3, I'd be all over it on GamePass!!!. lol :P
Wouldn't mind Dead Space 2 cuz i missed it when it came out, and looks too dated to play these days.

2011 game is now dated? lol.
I can play 2005 game that is mechanically perfect. FEAR.

Graphically. Atmosphere is one of the most important things in DS, and it looks like shit for today standards.
Legend of Dragoon would be my pick, although I fear they would change the battle system and kill what made it great.
Just having Xenosaga 1-3 remastered would be a big win for RPG lovers. I still have them with my PS2 collection but seeing as how they are going for $300 on ebay right now, it's not something available for everyone to enjoy.
instinctively it feels like i should say none, and instead we need new games, new ips, new ideas etc. especially whilst we're in this era of aaa stagnation.
but then i think of demon's souls remake and how utterly phe-nom-enal it is. i never played the original so without it i'd have never got to experience what i believe is a masterpiece in game design, and orders of magnitude more impactful as it now has some of the most spectacular visuals out there and is legitimately one of the best games this gen.
so i'd be hypocritical if i said none, there are legitimate reasons to remake games, even though i do believe the instinct to say none is the right one, for 95% of cases.
with that in mind i think the stalker trilogy, particularly with stalker 2 landing imminently, would be excellent candidates in a 3 for 1 type package, given how rough around the edges they were and the cult classic status they have now, in large part because the modding community fixed and improved them to become the unforgettable titles they had the potential to be (mainly 1 and 3, but the point still stands). plus because they were non-mainstream, like demon's souls, many will have missed out on experiencing them.
and because ds remake was so incredible, throw in dark souls 1 and bloodborne for good measure. why not
Fairly big Jimmathy Bond fan. Be nice to have this remastered or remade for native for PC.
Be happy with a remaster, as long as it wasn't overpriced piss take, time.
Add another vote for Dino Crisis . Really I just want a good dino shooter with half decent graphics. Whether it's a remake, sequel, or new ip doesn't matter.
Prototype would be cool with modern visuals and a few improvements. ( Tangent ... now that Insomniac is working on Wolverine, the logical next step would be for them would be to make a Carnage game)
Stranglehold. Game looks bad now and isn't playable with controller on modern hardware. We need more games with destructible environments anyway.
There's a bunch of arcade racers from the 6th and 7th gens I wouldn't mind seeing get face lifts (sequels preferable)
