Ill keep this simple. I am mostly focusing on Rachet and Clank.

Rachet and Clank gets a 7.5 on Gamespot, but is AAA on every other professional review site. Warkhawk was 8.5, but was held back by lack of single player. Lair got 4.5, nuff said.

These games were EXTREMELY HYPED but they didn't make the top 10 in their respective NPD's, and got similar reception in Europe + Japan. Heavenly Sword barely made #10 in september because Gamespot said it was short.

Do gamers hang onto gamespots final say to the point where it affects their purchases?

Is Gamespot that popular that they are not only the #1 most viewed review site but that they are trusted by the masses around the world?

Blame PS3 owners, not Gamespot.

It is one of the more popular sites so I guess it affects a couple of thousands.
But still the casuals just buy what looks great.
I know I did when I was a casual. Just go into the store check the boxes and buy what looked good.

Well according to my game collection's scores from GS, I'd say thats a negative. (Even though most are above 8 )

You can also look at games that sell well with poor scores (Mario party 6, 7, 8, Wii Play, Halo 3 [j/k]).

Cows you realize these inane theories you come up with only make you look even more insane? I'm sure Gamespot has some influence, but it wouldn't cause a game to bomb by itself. Games have generally had lower sales on PS3 because PS3 is so unpopular. Sony is to blame.

Its the holiday season, people have stopped buying for themselves and started making and requesting Christmas Lists from others. I would love to play Assasins Creed and Uncharted and have all intention of owning them both but my GF wants to get them for me as a gift so alas I must wait. I am sure this is similiar for alot of games, expect a big booste in sales during the holiday shopping sprees.

Oh and 50 Cent, Psychonauts, and NG both disprove your idea that Gamspot affects sales. There are thousands of other reviewing sites, to assume that GS actually has a big impact is just foolish.

While I doubt everyone in the world reads Gamespot reviews. I think they are easily the most accurate review site to recommend to anyone looking for the quality of a game.

you have to get it through your head that ....the rest of the world outside the GS forums does not care about GS.
