Fair score I´d say,and it goes a lot more in tune with the score average of the SP(9) and MP(7) portions.

LOL "greatest game of all time" gets an 8.

I would give the game an 8/10 too. Perhaps if the game looked and performed better than it would be a definite 9/10 game. So I'm hoping for a PC/PS4 version.

Game is a solid 9, but the lame online mode brings it down.

I dig the second reviews... Except when McShea is trolling games with undeserved "poor" ratings. That said, GTAV for me is a 9... Its hundreds of hours of stupid fun and I really think the 3 protagonist approach was a great step for a franchise that is now cluttered with copycats... Online is an 8 atm. Overall the game is AAA for me though.

After reading the review, I think he has some valid points when comparing it to the much more thematically stylized settings of vice and San andreas... That said, I don't agree that the setting and the feel of the gta5 world has been compromised... I love the different sections, neighborhoods and landscapes and find they relate to the characters well...

I disagree. I would give it a 9/10 because the Map of Los Santos is simply amazing but was slightly disappointed with the finish so 9/10 sounds right.

It's the greatest game of all time, bar none. I've been gaming for almost 30 years now and I haven't seen another game that can equal GTA 5 and GTA Online. I respect that other people have opinions, but they are just wrong, plain and simple.

Game deserves more like a 7.0-7.5.

Honestly, all things considered, an 8 is just about the right score for the game. It's damn good fun, but Rockstar seriously underdeveloped on some highly intriguing gameplay features.

There are better open world Sandbox games out there.

Just off the top of my head I liked RDR, Just Cause 2, and Sleeping Dogs better.

GTAV online is a travesty, boring, no fun, and repetitive.

I'd give it a 7/10 for the single player.

the map is amazing full of eye candy but that's it, just eye candy, even san andreas had houses you could rob and it even had a betting shop to win money.

Heists what heists???? i did one at the start which resembled one the rest were nothing but a run and gun and the final heist you basically walked it.

Once the game was finished there was nothing to do, £120m for the golf club and the best you could do was buy shops and the stock market moves that slow and no tips that it's not even worth playing.

I mean lets be honest, We play GTA to do things we can't do in real life unless thats the life you lead, but this one traded in drug dealers, robbing shops, for playing golf or playing tennis lol i mean come on triathlons??? Really lol it's GTA not the Olympics.

They should of had things like being a drug dealer selling it or driving around dealers dropping stuff off doing drug deals becoming the kingpin of los santos, but in the end we got a middle aged man who wants to play tennis with his wife, a nutjob who's probably the most close to a kingpin you can get and a CJ clone who some how just manages to go from rags to riches within a day with no struggles or nothing.

Online map is what gtav should of been shops to rob, cars to sell.

GTAV should have banks to rob when ever you wanted, cars to sell, drug deals to be made, houses to rob, run an empire, buy more stores, take people hostage.

Online is where it's at, But again i wish their were more ways of making money, more shops, let me sell cars more than a day,

i mean come on even saints row 2 got the gangs warfare side of things, GTAV made it look like non of the grove street gangs and all that even existed or even mattered.

As Much as i loved GTA V i hate it the same, i mean the detail they went to, for the tv channels, the cinema, the silly rides at the pier, i'd of preferred them to be cut and made the city more interactive than just oooo thats nice their's that jewelry store i robbed o wait but now i can't get in it and i only ever did one heist which was an actual heist.

Couldn´t agree more,and adding to the fact that they released a completely broken MP even with almost a month delay is pretty sad.

Am I wrong or it seens reviewers have more courage to give a low score in second reviews?

Looks like Beyond will be GOTY.

Sure it will lol.

Deep sea diving? Wasted potential. Heist planning? Disappointingly straightforward. Hunting? Several steps back compared to Red Dead Redemption. Property ownership/management? Vice City did this better, and it was made more than a decade ago.

Hm, I see SW is getting more and more critical about GTA V.

I wonder... what will be the general consensus in the end, will it go down simply as a pretty good game, or will everyone hate it like GTA IV?

Not really,the League of Legends second opinion was a 9 when the original was like a 6 or 7,I also think Skylanders scored higher on the second opinion.

That's because the first League of Legends review was when it was just out of beta.

Well it was a full priced retail release with a lot more issues and a lot less content,in a lot of ways it was a very different game,somewhat like TF2 is now,wich is also one of the games they will do for a second opinion,at least according to McShea on the comments of the LoL re-review.

Interesting perspectives in this thread. For the most part, people aren't bashing it just to bash it. For me, the reason why I think it's not as good as people suggest is because it's shallow. I am growing up and realizing how some games just aren't worth my time. GTA V isn't very fun to me anymore. I don't want to sit down and watch tv in GTA V, I also don't want to run a marathon. The story isn't very good too. That's why I lean towards games like TLOU. It's not too long, and it keeps you engaged with its story and characters. With GTA V, I feel that it is a hassle to complete some of the missions.

JC 2 is a lifeless, copy and paste world with ai thats as bad as last gen GTA's. The lifeless and bad ai can be said for Sleeping Dogs as well. Both of those games are way more repetitive and neither even have a mp mode. RDR is great but driving cars is much more fun for me than riding horses.

What multiplayer game isnt repetitive?

So if GTA V was sp only then you think it should deserve a 9? If we start lowering scores for weak mp then we need to start penalizing games like Sleeping Dogs and JC 2 for having no mp.

It´s a matter of consistency,the game should have been reviewed when the MP was available and not before like many did,and the MP itself should matter for the review in a positive or negative light since it´s part of the game,just in the same way that Battlefield 3 got heavily criticised by it´s SP content even though it´s a MP focused game and most people even argued that the SP was one of the reasons so many reviews were lower than expected,wich is accurate since quite a few of them mention that very fact. Also,the fact that Arma 3 is know to be a MP game didn´t stop plenty of reviewers from docking it for not having the SP portion available at launch,something that oddly enough pretty much none of the major reviewers even mention as a negative for GTA V.
