No. If Mass Effect was just like Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, it would not only have won GOTY, but every other award as well. Even best Wii game.

Uhh no it was not like Baldur's Gate 2 at all.. Don't even go that far.. That being said its a good game.. But yet again it did get a 8.5... There were already a ton of games that scored higher..

Can you ladies quit crying about Mario Galaxy gettin' GOTY? Why don't you guys actually play the game. That way, your opinions won't be so shallow.

I am still trying to get around how on Gametrialers didn't even put Crysis as at least a nominee for best graphics.. Yet they gave it to CoD4 :roll:.. The game looks alright, but Bioshock.. Uncharted.. etc look far better.. This is of course forgeting Crysis to beign with..sSubZerOo

lol seriously??? shouldn't professionals in the industry be able to see that cod4 isnt very technically impressive aside from the shadowing? seriously thats all this game has in graphics is good shadows.

Uhm have you played persona 3? My guess is no. It's a great game, and i like that GS was bold enough to choose it.

SMG is the second highest rated game......Ever. How can so many people object to something like that?

Even though I wanted Halo 3to win GOTY (as seen in my "owned" sig) I am happy to wear it, if it means Super Mario Galaxy gets what it rightfully deserves, GOTY. I figured it was Microspot and not Gamespot to be honest, because lately PS3 games and Wii games have been getting marked lower and lower, and it kind of irritates me.

GS has taught me that anyone can name their GOTY now.

Therefore I giveMass Effect the People's Game of the Year (C)award :! For being a complete revolutionary RPG game, with stunning visual art, depth story, and gameplay.

and to those who say, "play SMG first, and you'll see". If I wanted to see how SMG plays, all I need to is to fire up my old N64 with Super Mario 64 inside and be impressed with old gen gameplay. There's nothing revolutionary about SMG, not even the controls which are concepts Sega did ages ago with the Activator.

Because Super Mario Galaxy reinvents and reinvigorates an entire genre whilst providing pure, unadulterated fun.

It doesnt matter what they picked to be game of the year because a hundred of u babys would be on here complaing no matter what they picked.I enjoyed super mario galaxy and it is one of several games that i felt were worth the title game of the year so im fine with it.

HAHA you are such a noob, Mass effect is a everyday RPG, a average 3rd shooter with an interactive stroy. Sure it hasn't been done before (I think) but even so it's not revolutionary unlike Galaxy which is the first game to use speral level to such an extent. Also me I thought that Bioshock, SMG and Crysis all deserved GOTY so SMG didn't bother me.

it's probably still my favourite mario game too (due to nostalgic to some extend), but opinion is not fact. not even MY opinion...

Galaxy comes right after SMB3 in my list.

Complaining about mario's story is the most foolish thing you could do.

Complaining about its story isn't the only thing I can gripe about. I can also talk about SMG's rehash gameplay from Sunshine and Mario 64 but its revolutionary.

the gameplay is very refreshing. it even re-invents platforming. you will not find better platforming in any game. but i think you mena the fact that mario jumps... well, yes, it's a platformer.. but many aspects of the gameplay are new and very original.

just play it. it's GOTY for a reason.....

most game you play are rehashes to some extand. Flow is new. Nintendogs is new, Portal is new, Some Ds games are new.. but i'm thinking you don't play those games.. you're too insecure to be spotted with a DS i guess..

I tried to get that game, but it was out of stock in GAME, gamestation and tescos. :(

I was not suprised, it got loads of votes, as the wii is thr most popular console.

Don't worry, even if Persona 3 didn't exist, The Witcher would probably have been chosen over Mass Effect.
