For some reason , people think that the gamespot rating system work like this :
9+9+9+8+10/5= 9/10

But they are wrong since each category don't have the same value .

First im gonna show you this :

Gameplay :

Graphics :

Sound :

Value :

Titl :

as you can see
Gameplay = 3
titl = 3
Value = 2
Graphics = 2
Sound = 1
which mean :

Gameplay=Titl>Value=Graphics>Sound.

Which mean that you can Have 1 in sound and still have a AAA game ( 10,10,1,10,10 = 9.1/10 ) .

Anyway...I just wanted to clear this up and make people realise that Graphics/Sound isn't what devs should care about from the start . just look atRise of nations

The only part of the review that should count is gamer's tilt. But that is what I believe.

I don't like their review system, if you actually find the average of the scores, it will differ from the score it generated.

Gameplay & Value should be the most important.

I do. I don't really see why sound and graphics should be as important as gameplay.

Tilt = The ammount of Fun the guy had playing it . The game can take 10 month to finish , if the game is boring , it won't change much , so Tilt>Value .

i actually like how there rating system scores somethings as more important. its kind of like school where like tests and finals are more important then homework, classwork, class participation. so it makes sense. gameplay should be held the highest.

I think it is a good rating system because I can't really explain but I like this review system.

I'd rather see the categories weighted differently depending on the game type. For example, sound in a rhythm game is more important than graphics for that same game.

I do as well , simply because it's true that some categories are more important then others .

yeah , but if the Game suck from the start , the music they use won't change much to it . But it's true that in those kind of game , the sound would be more important then graphics .

We have known this from the start. I'm afraid the whole system is flawed in my opinion, as a game may be technically bland yet exceed the usual boundaries of the tilt mechanism. For example, a game may have all 7s and 8s yet a 10 for tilt. That game will not get a AAA rating, yet deep down the reviewer knows it should despite its technical shortcomings. Unfortunately that can't be changed as tilt doesn't go up to 11 or 12. This is an area where the system is flawed, and needs adjusting for greater effect.

Putting a set value on other scoring areas is also flawed. Some people look for excellent sound design in a game over stunning graphics, so which area should then be weighted more heavily? This is the reason why rhythm games are often under-scored in my opinion..

GS would become 1up if they started to review the game only on Tilt .

i disagree a game could be really good despite having bad graphics or something .. tilt makes up for it so that it gets the score the reviewer thinks it deserves
