bu-bu-bu its sucks!!! lmao they tried streaming games on a 10mb wireless network and a 35mb wired network and both worked pretty much flawlessly.

''I can't say that I had high hopes of games both looking and playing well, but they did, including latency-sensitive games like Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, which felt every bit as responsive as I needed it to be. Granted, I don't play on a competitive level, but I play enough Street Fighter to understand the speed and rhythm of certain characters, and favorites like Ibuki, Ryu, and El Fuerte felt the same as they always have, even on the technically slower Wi-Fi connection. I also put Final Fantasy XIII and Motorstorm Apocalypse to the test, and apart from a couple of audio glitches, I didn't experience anything that I would consider a barrier to my enjoyment. It was also difficult to identify any difference in performance between our wired and wireless network tests.''

even multiplayer works!! ''If you're worried about online multiplayer, fear not, because it works exactly as it would if you were playing on an actual PlayStation 3. Whether there are still people playing older games online is another discussion, but on Sony's end, its done a good job of preserving the experience you have with an actual PlayStation 3, compression artifacts aside.''

Yeah, cool stuff man. Unfortunately the Vita's inherently bad WiFi will probably stop me from using this there, but the Vita is still where I hope to use this down the line.

Paying a subscription service for backwards compatibility.

Just wish Sony didn't give the freedom of rental prices to devs/publishers. Bad move honestly. As I mentioned, customers won't know it was the devs/publishers who set the prices, they will think it's Sony. PlayStation Now might end up damaging their rep, not making it better. Makes them look greedy. Nevertheless, I don't own a PS3 no longer cause my PS3 launch console broke last year and I'll try this service out to see how it fairs. $20 a month is not a bad deal TBH.

If they ever figure out a way for us to stream games that we have already purchased on PSN, I'd be down for it. Right now tho, this just seems like a money grab instead of providing real backward compatibility

They won't do that. There is no money in that for them.

yep. Been saying this. They are being sly about what is going on. Day one, Sony fans should NOT HAVE PAID FOR PSN. Simple as that. The start of a gen is the perfect time for consumer to regain a bit of control. Look at xbox fans. MS changed a lot of what the console was supposed to be because of a real petition.

the precedent for paying for online had already been set and alot of ps4 owners are xbox owners who are willing to pay the subscription fee. the ball had already started to roll, no way u could stop sony from using it this gen.

the only way to tackle it would have been years ago when ms first started charging to xbl, had lems rejected it we wouldnt have fees now. thanks for everything rr360dd

Heh. The PS4 is powerful enough to emulate PS1 and PS2 games. That would be a real consumer friendly way to provide backwards compatibility.......

I can just see Sony/MS years from now "The 9th gen consoles are here and they're streaming only. Yeah we raised the price to a flat rate of 5 $/hr and people are still paying it. Haha yeah I know what a bunch of rubes."

What I'm wondering is if Sony keeping the games active on PS Now will keep the online components active for the PS3, perhaps even bringing the online components for some games back online (like Resistance 2).

I am pretty pleased with this. Provided home Internet speeds continue to improve, future consoles could be streaming game systems - which would be very cool.

For all the lems damage controlling, you can be your ass MS wishes they thought of this first and they will be trying to come up with their own version if they can get others in the industry to sign up for it.

The thing with this is, not just past gen, if it works Sony/MS may try to do this for the next gen where all games are streamed.

May not be the greatest value if you had a PS3 last gen but if you didn't this service is kind of the best thing ever, giving access to hundreds of games you've never had the means to play with a barrier to entry as little as $80 (or technically less if you have a recent Xperia phone or a compatible TV) plus the subscription fees.

Judging by how well Remote Play works on the Vita and Shareplay works on the PS4, I had a feeling this would be a good product, at least on the technical side.

I'm not really the target market, though. I have a really large collection of physical discs from last generation, and I have no problem buying more to play an older game that I might be interested in.

But of course this wouldn't be a System Wars thread without salty tears from sad fanboys.

It's an optional service. Don't like it? Don't buy it. At least the option is there.

I read the article and its interesting how the OP made no mention of the video compression artifacts introduced in games, which is pretty much the deal breaker for me with these kind of services. The overall tone of the article was not that it was awesome, but seems to work for Gamespot better than expected. Its nice Sony is trying something new though, I give them points for that and it will be interesting to see how it works out in the real world.

I've already played through several games on PS Now and from across the room with all the magic TVs work nowadays, I honestly can't tell it's being streamed. Shadow of the Colossus, a very grey game, is a touch "soft" at times, but the quality of the stream really isn't an issue.

I have netflix. There's so much on it I never know where to start. Having too many options is like having no options. I complain that there's nothing to watch meanwhile so much crap is available it's ridiculous.

Now make it video games which take more effort to play and finish. No thanks.

My back log is bad enough I don't need this service.

I miss those days when BC was the norm to be expected in a next gen. consoles.

Anyway, great news, but I don't think I will ever subscribe, I had all Sony consoles and I think I played most of the games that I want.

Rather than Backwards compatibility, I think Sony is target people who did not purchase a PS3 or some causal who can use their smart TV to play hits like The Lat of Us. Anyway, if Sony manage to pull this off watch MS follow or copy it in no time!

It worked great in the free beta, but I have speedy internet.

The service isn't for me (which I've said about 100x), I'm not a renter and I own my games, but I can see people new to PS enjoying playing classic games they never had access too.

Time wise, I just don't know if I can justify $20 a month on a Subscription fee like this. I'm not saying the price isn't justified. I just think that games take longer to complete, then something like a movie or TV series.

Windows isn't on Xbox one. Its just some apps. At least Sony has some form of BC unlike M$. Even if M$ did add BC like PS Now, they can't compete with Sony's stellar 20 year library

Right on bros, right on.

So glad I kept my BC PS3 and I guess I'm lucky that I don't care much for online multiplayer.

Still, it sucks that people are accepting this shit with open arms.
