Baten Kaitos Origins, which got a 7.5, was robbed of a mid to high AA IMO. Except for the soundtrack, the game basically did everything better than the original, which got an 8.5. It had a better story, better characters, better gameplay and still got a lower score than its predecessor.

the only cool thing about MM was the way link jumped across platforms. not the same boring jump every time like in TP.

Jade empire deserved more than a 8.4, ashides from the easy combat system, it was a great game. good story, great character......dunno why, but gamespot is clueless sometimes.
also gladius deserved at least a 8.8 or more, that game was amazingly deep. plus it was just awesome. I havent enjoyed an RPG as much as Gladius recently, not even final fantasy 12 held my attention as long. I just love the gladiator story in it, plus the combat system is awesome, timing your sword swing, upgrading characters, its just so epic.

It seems most people agree Mario Kart 64 missed the mark and who wouldn't? The game became one of the most played if not the most played multiplayer game on 64 after Goldeneye. While the review said...

Even with all its bells and whistles, Mario Kart 64 is very likely to disappoint you after about a week.

Gamespot is in general very solid, and I only post my list due to the topic at hand, not because I feel so outraged about the issue. Shenmue 1 AND 2 were both underrated. Oblivion was massively overrated. It deserves at least 2 points off for catering to ADD people but claiming to be open-ended, amongst other problems. Mario Kart 64 was underrated. I personally love the game and would give it low AAA (rubberband AI sucks), but I think an AA would be more objective. Mercenaries was underrated. Yes, this game is clearly worthy of AAA status but it was denied. Same with Jet Set Radio Future.

call of duty two should have been 9.0 at least....the maps are the right size for 8 person multiplayer.
