All I have to say is.....it's too late GameSpot!!! It's just too damn late!! GS reviews don't hold any water anymore. When studios can buy your reviews you lose all your credibility!!

GS is just not trust worthy!!! What keeps them not to sell out next time???? Nothing!!

So GS reviews are up for sale!! Do not trust any of it!! It's not professional!

wow this is certainly problematic for GS...

It definately explains why Resistance didn't get AAA when it was regarded as the best game going around by Playstation 2 magazine.

Me, I lost trust in gamespot because of the PS3 bashing. If you know maths, you'll realise that gamespot is removing an average of 0.4 points on every PS3 exclusive (compared to the industry (tens of reviews !!!! )). At the same time gamespot agrees with the industry for the 360 exclusives, and gives it the same scores more or less. Also, they refused to video review uncharted because it was looking too good, they gave the mighty motorstorm a very low score, gave the mighty ratchet and clank a low score and i can continue on for days. So if you own anything else than a 360, ignore the gamespot scores because it disagrees with the industry on your favorite exclusives. Good only for the video previews.

Until I read that article, I never realized that Gerstmann was fired. Is there a more in depth article explaining what happened (Edit: there appear to be several links in this article. I'll look through them for more info) :) ?

I will say that I've noticed a heavy bias towards Microsoft and their Xbox product on this site. Whether or not it is real or just perceived may be validated by evidence in more articles. For example, how on earth could a game like Gears of War seriously receive a GOTY nomination? It does absolutely nothing well or innovative. Furthermore, if someone is critical of Microsoft, the thread gets locked and the TC gets banned. This has happened several time to me and all I did was point out some of Microsofts well documented poor business practices and questionable products and ethics.

Anyway, I would like to let Gamespot know that I've been coming to this site for almost a decade, and I will continue to do so and believe that they will correct themselves. If they don't, I guess I'd have to leave. But I'm willing to give them their chance.

Yeah, I don't like that either. But a lot of their polls have been like that, and not just against the PS3.

Man!!! You are so right!!! For example. I made a topic about Ninja Gaiden 2 comming to the PS3 (there wasa rumor) and it got locked right away. Than I complain to Casey(mod) about it and he sais that every topic like that get's locked!! So I tell him that there are 20 topic on MGS4 going to the 360 and they are not locked.....he sais that every MGS4 going to the 360 get's locked on site. Now a few days after that conversation I see a damn topic about MGS4 going to the 360 and Casey does nothing......but insults me!!

What the hell GS??? GS should rename the site Xbox central or something

Ok.

The bias thing needs to stop. Going over to Game Rankings... Resistance is an 86.6% game...do those numbers, I don't know...look familiar?

Uncharted is a 90%, so GS gave it an 8, alot of publications gave it an 8, and some lower.

NG:S is an 87%, what is it here...a 9? TEH BIAS!!

Heavenly Sword is an 81% GS gave it an 8.

Motorstorm is an 82% GS gave it a 7.5

Warhawk is an 84.4% GS gave it an 8.5

Gamespot is right in line with what these games actually are. Sure they lowball a few (Ratchet and Uncharted). But they are perfectly right most of the time. How that screams bias is beyond me. What it does scream, is that Sony doesn't have the quality in games that it used to. Stop screaming bias and look at the facts for once instead of bringing down what is still the most credible game review website out there.

There isn't, as always even discussing integrity automatically means that Gamespot is admitting to selling out. Did anyone stop to think that it didn't work? Jeff still gave the game a 6.0. So he got fired, so what? He had a hand in hiring each and every one of the reviewers they have there right now (minus maybe 1) and the backlash caused by the incident was enough to drive the money side away from the website for good. If it didn't, then alot more of the staff would have simply left.

Also, you don't see Jeff employed anywhere big time reviewing games do you? If he was the god people seem to think he was (how quickly we forget Zelda: TP) why didn't he secure a job with IGN or 1up? Anybody at all?

Probably because he isn't looking for a job yet and there are some rumours going aroung he is teaming up with Vince Broady (founder of Gamespot) to form a new site

cramoisi

GameSpot has little bit of tendcy to give lower scores to all of the major platforms in comparison to the GameRankings' averages, not just for PlayStation 3 or Sony.

For example...

Wii

  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GameRankings: 94.0 percent, GameSpot: 88.0 percent)
  • Excite Truck (GameRankings: 75.4 percent, GameSpot: 68.0 percent)
  • Metroid Prime Corruption (GameRankings: 89.6 percent, GameSpot: 85.0 percent)
  • Geometry Wars: Galaxies (GameRankings: 80.3 percent, GameSpot: 75.0 percent)
  • Mario Strikers Charged (GameRankings: 79.2 percent, GameSpot: 75.0 percent)

DS

  • Planet Puzzle League (GameRankings: 87.5 percent, GameSpot 80.0 percent)
  • Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits (GameRankings: 76.3 percent, 70.0 percent)
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations (GameRankings: 80.9 percent, GameSpot: 75.0 percent)
  • Worms: Open Warfare 2 (GameRankings: 80.6 percent, GameSpot: 70.0 percent)
  • Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day (GameRankings: 78.7 percent, GameSpot)

Xbox 360

  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (GameRankings: 94.1 percent, GameSpot: 90.0 percent)
  • Mass Effect (GameRankings: 90.7 percent, GameSpot: 85.0 percent)
  • Bioshock (GameRankings: 95.2 percent, GameSpot: 90.0 percent)
  • Virtual Figher 5 Online (GameRankings: 89.4 percent, 85.0 percent)
  • Crackdown (GameRankings: 83.5 percent, 78.0 percent)

Other than that...

MotorStorm: according to GameRankings, 16 other gaming publications gave score equal or less than that of GameSpot's

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune: according to GameRankings, 8 other gaming publications gave score equal or less than that of GameSpot's, one of which, includes "PlayStation: Official Magazine (US)"

In regards to R&C:Tools of Destruction, while GameSpot was one of the lowest, it was not the lowest. 3 other gaming publications went lower, one going low as 60.0 percent.

GameSpot was not only the place to give Gears of War GOTY or GOYT-like award. The same holds true for 2006 Interactive Achievement Awards, D.I.C.E 07, G-Phoria 07, IEAA Awards and Gamefly.

Do you seriously believe that???? Every one of us has had titles that were locks for AAA get their chops busted on here. PS3, Wii, and the 360. Quit trying to say its a pro-360 hogwash conspiracy.

Yes, that explains it. I'm not saying that GS is totally credible, but c'mon. Personally I wasn't impressed with Resistance 1, but I'll be picking it up soon in preperation for Resistance 2. Also, welcome back Yo_Foo, I haven't gotten modded in almost a year so you and I should be able to have some fun discussions. Lol....I noticed your claiming to be a surgeon again. They first need to acknowledge the problem, that is - being overly biased towards the X360 (Rigging graphical comparisons in late 2006, anyone?). Yet here this guy is merely acknowledging that there is "a" problem, just not what it is. How does the firing of that guy amount to anything? If anything, that was a good thing because he was so ridiculously biased.
