Gamespot doesn't review most PS3 exclusives and if they do score is always lower than average

They didn't review Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel and Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland this year

I'm surprised they reviewed any of these collection releases. You can just read the old reviews.

They don't review many collections. For example, see Metroid Prime Trilogy, and that easily deserves a 10.

Gamespot are not going to waste their time reviewing a game that has already been reviewed for what the game originally was, no matter how many remastered editions it gets. The core game is still intact and so should the score. Besides There are better games coming out that are more worthy of attention. If you want a review, go look at the reviews for the original games. They are more than enough to give you an idea of these two games.

Here's ICO.

I don't see the point in re-reviewing them.

Let them focus on bigger reviews/ones that matter.

Don't assume that I meant it for all the games that did not get reviewed. There's a clear distinction to what I'm saying and what you're implying that I'm saying, if you just read more carefully.

Other factors can contribute to produce the same result. That is, games not getting reviewed.

It's been upscaled and the frame rate drops are gone. If you want to know about the games, just read the old reviews and take that s*** into account.

This isn't rocket science, people.

Go to the search bar above and subsequently type ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. There you go.

Unless you really want to see a score for SW purposes, the experience has pretty much been touched upon already by reviewers. The only thing you're waiting for is a review adding that the framerate is better, along a few other graphical details.

I find it interesting how people want these (and other collections of) games (re)reviewed. Standards from 2005, and especially 2001, have changed so much, that if these games are reviewed as if they came out today, would probably be scored significantly less. Inb4 "But the gameplay is still good." As much as I enjoyed SOTC, I could see its flaws, especially those in the gameplay. And as much as one could say "they serve a purpose" (emulating Wander's plight for the player), not everyone appreciates the artistic qualities of the game (as art is subjective) and would not see Wander's plight, but rather unresponsive controls and a bad camera. For an action-adventure, the gameplay in SOTC is pretty bad. The empty environments, focus on boss fights, lack of any interactivity outside of the fights, among other things, without the artistic context, are not that great. And that's the thing about reviews, is that not everyone can see, and/or appreciate that artistic value, which just leaves a mediocre game behind. This obsession these days with reviews, and especially scores, is disconcerting for me. A review (or more simply, an opinion formed through experience) should not be the determining factor of whether someone should buy a game. It should give a player context in a sea of opinions, so they can temper their views of the game amongst a community (either with real-life friends, or on the internet) and allow them to express their own unique views.

If GameSpot reviewed such a masterpiece they'd only end up flopping it so it's best that this is left untouched :P.

It doesn't need to be reviewed.

Strange thing is, it was in the "Under Review" section for a while - so I guess they just decided on a blog post rather than an actual review. :?

Still, the games have been classics to this day, so no doubt they'll still be good (though not up to todays graphical standards).

You clearly don't understand how GS works. All the largely hyped games get a review (think Skyrim, UC3, BF3, Dark Souls, etc) and the rest are drawn from this:

i think its funny that someone could recognize the artistic properties of a game and then simply dismiss them as mediocre in their own right. "the game is great if you recognize it for what it is, but you wont care otherwise." theres obviously something wrong with the review if it takes everybody into account as that is impossible. a review is merely one person's experience with a game. any attempt to democritize a review is diluting it.

ICO: 8.5

total Average.

8.6

which would be....

an 8.5.

that is if you want the score.

If you want a written one of how it fairs compared to the originals you're going to have to fair with User Reviews.

Go look at the Metacritic rating, about 50 people reviewed the ICO/SOTC Collection and it has about a 92

So if you're having doubts about it, just go out and buy it, they say it improves every performance issue that the Ico and SoTC had

Gamespot has never been credible so they should not be your end all review source before you buy games....I'm 100% sure that they'll review the Halo: Anniversary game so everyone saying that they don't review remasters or collections aren't making any sense
