Gamespot Wipeout HD Review is a joke!!!

Right, so in the general comments section, under "the good" they state that the game has

1) Beautiful visuals and immaculate presentation

2) High-value price point

3) Deep single-player and competent multiplayer.

Under "the bad" they state that:

1) Tracks, ships, and music have all appeared before

2) Lack of multiplayer modes

and from this they give it a 7.5.

Right, I can understand that if I have a PSP and have bought the version of wipeout that appeared on that, I may be a little annoyed that I have the same tracks again. However, I, like many people, HAVE NEVER PLAYED THE PSP VERSION... so for me, there is no issue. I get what gamespot were saying, but i think they judged this game VERY harshly, especially since it costs like £10 and, other than a few reused tracks, they pretty much say it is perfect.

This is why you read the review, dont just look at the score.

tracks ships all appared before? wtf?

just like weapons, vehicles all appeared before in other games yet they dont minus points for that?

And we are suprised that there is a backlash at Sony releasing all our favorite franchises as half games why?

Executive thinking at Sony:

your statement rings of damage control. if you're going to say something like that, the same would have to hold true for Maio, Ninja Gaiden and all the other old, enjoyable franchises. can't have it both ways.

I wish the controls were a little tighter....camera angle helps.....but still to loose..

It's great to see custom sound tracks on the game....With that said...why on earth does it seem that everything always has an extra step....If I want to play music..let me hit the guide button and select my music..no matter where I am at...Why is this so hard?

Select play list before going into the game....go to options...select play list....then it plays...Not to big of a deal.....just annoying..

If it wernt for them ,alst time i checked gamerankings wipeout would have an average score over 9/10.

I read the review and its pathetic, basiclly its a brilliant game, but I feelz evilz todayz so am gonna give u 7.5.....

Anyway generally I use IGN for scores and gamepot for the written part, IGN scores right but they praise too much in the writing.

something that isn't begging to be picked apart is all I ask. Saying the game and the franchise are "antiques" when Wipeout Pure (2005) holds a better score than almost all 360 racing games for sale (most likely including PURE, which YOU recently paid $60 for) is kinda...well....

...I just don't think you thought that attack line through very well. Or maybe you just didn't expect me to see it and pounce.

Again, a better argument (with a proper scope to the point) is all I ask.

I think MGS3 deserved a higher score than MGS4. Its story was far better, so were the bosses.

MGS4 was a 9.5 -9.8 game.

dude, question. which do you prefer, Super Stardust HD or Geometry Wars 1/2?

I'd probably say GeoWars 2 is the better game. more creative modes. good challenge. But Super Stardust is fun too. with SSD, I do often feel like the whole 3 weapon approach is unnecessary/not executed well...but it's still one of the better downloadable games on any console. I'd recommend it for any PS3 owner.

This is why you read the review, dont just look at the score.

Took my words. He specifically adresses this.

"The result is essentially an oxymoron--a game that's obviously meant for fans, but one that paradoxically gives them nothing they don't already have. If you're a fan of the series but missed the PSP games then HD is a must-buy, but Wipeout stalwarts could rightfully look at this director's cut as a bit of a cash-in."

Perhaps you should read what they're talking about before asking.
