What are your thoughts on Gamespot's Top 10, SW? And what is your top 10?

Here are my favorites, in no order:

• Returnal
  • Love this arcade shooter! Was a nice change of pace. Loved the horror elements and mystery as well.
• Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
  • Sure it follows the Ratchet and Clank formula well, but it is so well polished and fun.
• Metroid Dread (8.5/10)
  • It's fun and to the point, but didn't really push the genre for me.
• Lost Judgement (not done yet)
  • I'm glad traditional Yakuza lives on with the Judgement series. It keeps getting better and better.
• Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
  • Played the original on Wii U, but the sped up movement and Bowser's Fury was fun to play.
• Persona 5 Strikers
  • Amazing OST and flashy hack n slash fun, it was nice revisiting these characters again.
• Halo Infinite
  • Just started the campaign, but really enjoying it so far, and the multiplayer is a blast!
• Deathloop
  • Once you 'get it', it's really fun, clever, and charming.
• Guilt Gear Strive
  • Haven't spent a lot of time with it, but I love the animation and the user friendly and fun mechanics.
• Resident Evil Village
  • It's overrated in my opinion, but it was still entertaining. I just don't see it as better than 7.

Overall GOTY: Right now it's between Returnal and Lost Judgement for me. I'm not done with Lost Judgement yet, but's making a good case for my GOTY right now. Oh, and I just started Shin Megami V so that could very well make the list too.

The reinvention of a flagship franchise and its decades-old mascot is no enviable task, and following two outings that proved to sour with time according to the fan consensus, 343 Industries' next Halo game felt make-or-break. Thus, Halo Infinite was deemed a soft reboot, both for the game's format--as the live-service era had grown dominant in the years since Halo 5--as well as for Chief himself. Given an extra year to get it right following a delay, 343 has cleared its high expectation bar. Halo is all the way back.

In the campaign, Halo Infinite looked outside of its arena- and corridor-shooter roots, and blew the doors off to put Halo in its first-ever open-world setting. The end result is a Halo that feels the most refreshing since Halo 3, or perhaps even the trailblazing original game. Staples like the bouncy Warthogs and a penchant for combat creativity are amplified by the suddenly expansive terrain and new toys like the Grappleshot, which is a must-have for all future Halo games. Master Chief himself is repainted with more character without losing his rule-of-cool origins. The stoic Spartan is hardly more talkative these days, but he finally has something to say.

In the multiplayer modes, Halo has been reimagined as a free-to-play shooter. While that's brought growing pains, these are by and large cosmetic only. The core gameplay that's here, even in its earliest days, is the best it's been in many years. It's nostalgic for those with memories old enough to fondly recall LAN parties, while also modernized and inviting for the many new players jumping in. Halo represents the endcap to Xbox's best first-party year in maybe a decade, and its way of hogging the holiday spotlight from giants such as Call of Duty and Battlefield is indicative of its greatness. Infinite has simply stolen the show and sets up a remarkably sturdy foundation for what is meant to be the Halo platform for years to come. -- Mark Delaney, Guides Editor

I don't even know if I played 10 new games from 2021 this year lol.

Some goodies this year: Death's Door, It Takes Two, Shin Megami Tensei V. ofc Forza V and Halo inf

But my favorite goes to Pokemon BD/SP, solely for the glitches: Sequence breaking, surfing on land, evolve trade pokemon with items, evolve a non shiny into a shiny... the list goes on. There hasn't been a pokemon gen this broken since the first. Unfortunately, it's all getting patched out 😩

Trying to think what 2021 games I've played... I guess Forza Horizon 5? The best games I've played this year are from prior years, I reckon. AoE4 was a disappointment. Uninstalled once it failed to update a few times and then wouldn't launch anymore because of it... Wasn't worth the trouble when AoE2:DE is a better game

These are the main 2021 games i played and enjoyed. I played hades this year and if it wasn't a 2020 game I'd put it at the top of the list. For pure technical achievement MSFS20 also deserves to be on the list, but it's from 2020. As for the ps5 games I didn't have time to play them before the ps5 went away with my bro.

Overall goty is halo infinite. The game has tons of potential. 343 should add expansion packs to the campaign. The world is huge as it is, but adding some different biomes on different Halo rings would be fantastic. They could use the pilot as a navigator taking MC to different halo rings, sort of how jedi fallen order used the ship to travel to different planets. Or they could expand the current ring.

Fh5 is my favorite racing game all time. It's good enough to fight it out with nfs most wanted, a game I loved playing as a kid.

I haven't played any yet, as I am waiting to get an Xsex first. But I'll bet 100 USD that Far Cry 6 will be my favorite.

The only game i played on that list is Metroid dread. Didn't like it. i would have liked it except for the Emmis. visions of the central dungeon from Zelda phantom hourglass all over again. i have been playing Samus returns on the 3DS this year though and have been enjoying that overall.

I think the only 2021 game i have played are Ys IX (PC version released this year), Neo: The World Ends With You and Wyldermyth. Ys and NEO great. I need to get into Wyldermyth more. initially it looks like nothing special but reviews suggest you need to build up characters over a series of campaigns for it to shine. what i played was good though. very Xcom but with a different setting.

So my GOTY is Neo. Great game and a very nice surprise.

I like Forza, but this one feels like an expansion to 4. I hope they take some more risks with the next one.

My 2021 GotY:

MH Rise. Easily the best in series to me. Like World and the classic MH games had a baby. So many nice QoL improvements. I dont think I can play the older games anymore.

I feel like Halo has won 2021. People seem mighty satisfied with it.

Honestly, not a great year. I had some mixed experiences with the bottom 5 games on this list but they were positive enough that I'd still recommend them. Fun fact: the bottom 5 games on my list area all on gamepass.

Only thing of note I played from this year that I would put in a top 10 any other year . Everything else I played this year (Guilty Gear Strive, Resi 8, Ratchet and Clank, It Takes Two, Knockout City) are okay games. They are aight, fine, solid time kills till I get to something more interesting. Not ideal.

I'll get around to trying Returnal, I like Housemarque games, bought it day 1, just couldn't be bothered to fire it up. Tales of Arise, Monster Hunter Rise, SMTV, Deathloop all seem like stuff I'd want to try, so will get around to em. But otherwise the year felt pretty weak.

I mostly went through my backlog a bit this year. Played Celeste for the first time this year, that game is godlike. Frankly should have been the 2018 Game of the Year. But that would require goons to have this thing called taste.

@SolidGame_basic: the game I enjoyed the most this year was Mass Effect LE... Followed by Dread or my first ever play through of Dragons Dogma on Switch. I never feel comfortable with this question becausef I don't often play all the goty contending games until the year after they release.

I‘m not ready to make my list yet. I haven’t played Deathloop yet, (I bought it though) and haven’t played quite enough FH5 to give it the GOTY nod just yet.

Lol ... same. I honestly don't even remember the last time i played 10 new games on a single year.

Anyway ... I only played like 4 new games this year, 5 if i decide to order Metroid.

1. Hitman 3. Easily my Goty ... such a fun game. If i'm honest, i don't share Sniper's opinion on being the best stealth game or whatever he says, i actually think this as a puzzle/sandbox game smart enough to not take itself too serious, because you just don't do any stealth, instead you do... whatever you please, but yeah, great game and it let me hyped for the upcoming James Bond game.

2. Guilty Gear Strive. I was so hyped for this game but i was a bit disappointed at the end ... i mean i love the art style but the combat was a bit underdeveloped at first. It just felt like whoever got the first hit that lead to a combo had such a huge advantage and most fights felt the same, i mean is getting much better now, but there are also new fighters coming like DNF Duel and KOF XV so let's see.

3. Mass Effect Legendary Collection. I'm such a Mass Effect fanboy that i couldn't resist to get this and ... i love it, there is not much else to say only that i never played the Citadel DLC and damn, such a great fanservice, again not much else to say.

4. KOF XV. Yes, i'm cheating on this one ... it was only an open Beta for a weekend with another one coming this next friday, but i played so much of it and i had so much fun with the characters they had, that i have to put it on my GOTY list and i know i will be sinking many more hours this next weekend.

Finally someone giving some love to Lost Judgement! One of the hidden gems of the year.
