disagree somewhat with this idea.
the only area it wins in is price tag, unless you find a game with hosted servers. :)
But that is a big win.
cant be communication no one has mic on PS3 and if they do they are rick rollin there on team on itAsHeavenIsWide
I have a headset and the reason I don't use it when I do go on-line is because of some idoits talking about any and everything except what's going on in the game.
Everyone having a headset is a BAD thing. If ever someone makes in-game live video a standard... I will quit online gaming forever. I'd feel safer if they gave a monkey a shotgun.AntiType
I still think only one person with a working headset in each game is WORSE.

The only game I think it really made an impact on is the splintercell games. just 2 talking to each other, VERY necessary and the fact that you can hack into the conversation. It was brilliant. hopping into random shooter/fps servers can do without chat since everyone pretty much only trashtalks anyway. IF you are in a clan... then its different... but in that case, it doesn't matter if you are on 360 or ps3... everyone will have a mic.
God the very first (and only) online SCIV game I played, tey guy was just belching the whole time. I quit and went back to SSBB.
Xbox Live is clearly better, but I do think PSN has a few advantages, here are a couple:
The PSN store (since the redesign) is in my opinion nicer and easier to navigate then Xbox Live Marketplace.
PSN has full PS1 games for a measly 6 dollars. It also has bigger, meatier HD games for download such as Siren, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, Gran Turismo Prologue (maybe not a full game but it's definitely meatier then the typical Xbox Live Arcade game), Warhawk and this holiday you can add SOCOM: Confrontation, Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty, and Wipeout HD.
Sony gives you tons of free downloadable avatars, wallpapers, and themes. Microsoft usually charges you for that stuff.
The PS3's online capabilities include built-in wifi while the 360 doesn't (and if you want the official Microsoft adapter, they overcharge for it).
If people on psn truly wanted a mic they would get one. Xbl you have idiots that would be to lazy to buy one on there own that have a mic and ruin the experience for others. Yall treat mics for the ps3 as if no one can buy one or that the ps3 doesn't support mics.

If you dont like it then take off your headset,
I like having the option to be able to speak to players and having them communicate back.
weather its over strategy or talking smack.
That is online gaming, i dont like the feeling of playing with a bunch of bots (PSN), its not fun.

I guess no one on PSN likes to talk.
Pretty boring community IMO
Having a Headset in games with an open mic is a horrible idea. Games like socom that have one person talking at a time is much better, because 1. It is much clearer, and 2. I dont hear 10 other guys yelling in the mic.
I sure do hope socom:confrontation does not have an open mic system, any one know?

It's personal preference... I prefer a silent server to one where everyone acts retarded... and it happens much too often when everyone has a mic (360 or Ps3).
psn has kula world? what are you all arguing about? kula world! YOU PLAY AS A BEACH BALL! ITS KULA WORLD!
honestly, i totally agree with gamespy. While overall, the xbl is better than psn, (IMHO) the psn do best xbl in some area
1. text message, while xbl do have good texting options, the ps3 EASILY best xbl in this area by automatically spelling out the desired word you're trying to spell, and even save some of the slang words that you type in as well
2. lag, while xbl do have many games to run near flawless online and the psn have some games to run crappy online (GT5), i haven't played a single game on xbl or the psn for that matter that handles as good as Warhawk does in online gameplay and Resistance isn't far behind either
3. private chat and video chat, i know that the megaton update for xbl is coming in fall, but it isn't here now, and right now the psn EASILY best xbl in this area by allowing 6 people SIMULTANEOUSLY to chat/video chat at one time
So i believe that the psn beats xbl in these 3 standout areas (even though the lag is truly arguable, IMO the other two isn't)
it has everything that live has
its free
it has far better games ( wahawk , resistance 1 and 2 ,killzone 2 , mgo , mag , home , socom , motorstorm 2 )
dedicated servers
psn > live

I would be amazed to get in a psn game where everyone has mic. When I play COD4 the average is about two people with a mic.As for areas where PSN is worse than live...
The thing that sucks is when only one or two guys have a mic they scream or play random sounds instaed of talk(even if they're talking crap its better than screaming) This shows another area where psn lags behind. People can be annoying with no fear of anything happening. There is no feedback system, no option to mute people(except during a match, when the match ends you can hear them again)and if they do something crazy and manage to get banned, they'll make another account because its free.
Finally, I'm sure people will argue but I have some lag issues on PSN. I've had more laggy games on COD4 in 3 days on PSN than I've had on live since COD4 came out.

The free part is the only biggest thing going for PSN against XBL.
Better games. The 360 has ( halo 3, Gears, Gears 2, Ace Combat 6, Forza 2, Banjo, Fable 2 )
I know of one area that PSN trumps XBL... Price, but besides that XBL winsbamafan1359
Probably the only true fact ive read to support that idea. but not really beting it, just cheaper.

No
Yes
Hilariously, you only mention 3 games that are out already. 3 games?
Some games... and the 360 has some, too. Not to mention, What happens when Konami decides it's no longer a good idea to have MGO? You can still play xbox games.
I have both the PS3 and 360 and I really enjoy Xbox Live better. I know it costs and all, but it seems far more superior to the PS3s generic interface.I know the PS3s online is free and all, and I do appreciate that, because I doubt anyone would pay for what their offering right now. The downloads take a horrendous amount of time, then after you download, you have to install. What?? The average demo on Xbox Live takes me about 10 minutes , where the same demo on PSN takes over 30 minutes. And thats not including the install time. When I tried to go online on MGS4 I had create a username and password, go to Konami's website and get a Gamer ID, then go to my email and get confirmation. All that before I could even play the game. Why? Right now if I buy a game thats multi-platform, I get it on my 360, simply because of the online experience and achievements. I simply use my PS3 for exclusives and Blu-rays. I know their online will only get better, but as far as it beating the 360 in some areas of online? Only in the fact that its free and Live charges. godzillavskongread my post above^^^
