gamestop releases phone call wave regarding last guardian. bad news

team ico's next game "the last guardian" appears to not be sold at gamestop anymore via retail. this isnt to say that its canned by team ico but rather the more likely scenario is that gamestop has refused to sell it for one reason or another now.

dtoid has set out a PR call to team ico in the hopes of verifying if that game has been fully canned, or wether its just gamestop.

I'm not entirely convinced Sony Japan is speaking directly to western used middlemen Gamestop over all other retailers...it's not a good sign, but I am not convinced of anything yet.

Most likely, Gamestop put 2 and 2 together like most of us gamers did with recent news, and realize the game is not going to come out as soon as we hoped, so, instead is hoping to drum up some pre orders towards games set earlier in the year. Not the first time they have done things like that. It's just business, and they have their 1st quarter to deal with. Gamestop doesn't have secret access to Sony Japan information that we are aware of, lol.

Game is gonna get cancled i'm sure of it, this is really a sad news if true i couldn't wait to play it but now my HYPE died for this game.

Lets be honest here. 1 game every 5 years does Sony no good. Someone has to pay for the 5 years of work before the game is even finished. It probably is not worth it to Sony to bother funding so called art while that studio is leaking money. How many games have Insomniac and Naughty Dog made this gem already? Exactly. Team Ico and Polyphony both are probably not very profitable for Sony. GT5 may sell 7 million copies but I doubt they made Sony a lot of money keeping Polyphony open and paying their salaries for 5 years while they recorded muffler noises.

SCEJ really should have a stricter hold on the development teams making their PS3 exclusives. Because when they don't, games get delayed, canceled, and when they do see the light of day, never live up to the expectations that are perfectly reasonable considering the development time.

For the record, I also trust Nintendo of America more than Gamestop, same goes for any company vs. Gamestop rumors.

i doubt this has anything to do with the delay gamestop had starcraft ghost in their system for like 3 years before they finally removed it.

it does the company more good to show that preorder money as an asset on the books than to give it back so i would assume the game is gone for real.
