I don't know if this has been discussed in SW, I've been gone for a few days, but on Gametrailer's Invisible Walls program (located here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/34363.html?type=mov) they talk about impressions of games.

For those who don't care to watch, they said the following:

Killzone 2: It seems derivative. It seems to be suffering from me-too syndrome. They want to see what they come up with for multiplayer though, since that is what gives a FPS legs.

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift: They said it looked nowhere near the trailer, but it is only a 40% build, so they have to give lots of leeway. Ultimately though, it looked like more of the same.

LBP: Of course they loved any footage they wanted and are willing to have it delayed (if need be) so that it can be played like the developers want.

Banjo Kazooie 3 (or whatever it is called): They really didn't seem happy with the direction they went, adding the whole car element. From what I can remember, they didn't have a lot good to say about it.

Gears of War 2: They just saw the full level from the gameplay reveal, but they said it wasn't that exciting since they already saw the level in said reveal. It did look good though.

Left 4 Dead: Even though there were a bunch of technical issues with what they saw, they didn't care because it just looked so fun. They seem really hyped by it.

They go over more games, but those are the big ones. I left my personal opinion out of the above writing, but feel free to comment on whether you agree or disagree. Again, sorry for posting if this has been discussed, I know the video is a couple of days old.

I love IW, been watching it since episode 1. I was surprised at their dislike on Banjo, eeryone else seems to love it.

I have been as well. When you say everyone else though, do you mean other reviewers or other normal people (not implying they aren't normal!)? Because I've heard grumblings around on SW about the whole vehicle thing, and I don't THINK it was just cows.

So, they don't like any sequels. Good to know.

Wow, they seem hard to satisfy. Was that Shane guy hosting it? Yeah, I don't like him. He seems rather arrogant.

I can't say that I blame them though. Going off of what they said, they go out to these presentations (and there were quite a few in one week) and see pretty much nothing new from Gears of War, see that vehicles have been incorporated heavily into Banjo (which I have never played any of the others, but even I'm not too happy about that), have the Killzone 2 guy go on about exploding barrels while from what they showed, the game didn't look all that distinguishable from other games (talking about gameplay, not graphics), find out that there really isn't anything improved with Motorstorm and that it looks nowhere near the trailer.

Gametrailers like their usual way.. bashing games...

i'm surprised that they bash Gears 2 cuz i thought they would only praise 360 games just by listening to them about KZ2 and Motorstorm 2.

no offense but this show is retarded..; maybe they should just stick with their "game comparison vids"

They didn't really bash Gears 2, just weren't happy that they weren't shown anything new. They did seem quite disappointed with Banjo though.

  • Motorstorm PR - rehash
  • LBP - adorable
  • Banjo 3 - identity crisis
  • Gears of War 2 - gears of more
  • Left 4 dead - valve likes it so it must be good

I saw the gameplay videos for everything and they looked fine to me. I think they're just trying to find **** to complain about.

Good show, never seen it before, but will probably look into watching future ones. I think their points are pretty valid.

cows coming in and saying that gametrailers said the gears footage looked just like the first game. gears of more? thats retarded. they said it was the same stuff they seen in the previous gameplay release, not that it was the same as the first game.

you watched the gameplay vids? they actually played some of the gameplay vids. and what they had the most beef about was that they were shown nothing new which is a good reason. i dont know what it is in this forum that hates shows about video games. hate x-play, hate zeropunctuation, hate invisible walls. i think this forum is the one that are full of arrogant people. my opinion this, my opinion that. give me a break.

so basically what you're saying is you believe on everything they said about those games ie "Killzone 2 is generic" or "Gears 2 is nothing new" etc...?

those guys are trash (mainly GT is) and all they did was bash those great upcoming games trying to come up with a positive excuse just to make people who disagree at them feel happy..

Well they are mking sure they be negative I guess...WHy are they complaining about Motorstorm not looking as good as the trailer? No one said it was in-game, in-engine- or gameplay. Fail on their part. Anyway. Everything else is fair I guess.

damn it. i dont want to defend them really but what you guys are bashing them about is what i feel isnt right. killzone 2 does look generic in a way, and they're not the first one to say this actually. and they said gears 2 was nothing new COMPARED to the exclusive trailer that GT has been showing even before they went to the MS event. they were bummed that they didnt get to see new footage and actually if you stayed tuned after they said all this about gears2, you would have heard some of the compliments about the game.
