Gaming has changed. It's no longer about fun, challenges, or storytelling. It's an endless series of point whoring done by gamers on machines. Gaming - and its consumption of life - has become a well-oiled machine.

Gaming has changed. ID-tagged gamers play on ID-tagged consoles, use ID-tagged accounts. Specifications inside their save files enhance and regulate their rewards. Trophy control. Gamerscore control. Parental control. Region-specific differences control. Everything is monitored and kept under control.

Gaming has changed. The age of next-gen promises has become the age of control... All in the name of averting catastrophe from casual gaming and waggle. And he who controls the most features... Controls the console war.

Gaming has changed. When the consoles are under total control... ...Gaming becomes routine

Gaming HAS changed, and I just hate what it's becomming. I think it's kind of sad that i'm happier to spend $50 on Super Nintendo and PS1 games than i am to spend $30 for any current gen games.

We need gaming to go back from being about meaningless points and trohies and go back to being about fun. We need varitey in the industry, instead of everything trying to be a GTA or Halo rip off.

Atari built consoles to gather notoriety, and wealth. Nintendo built an empire from its lust for dollars and influence. Kutaragi shaped a battered Sony into an entertainment superpower.

But gaming never changes.

In the 21st century, the console war was still being waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of gaming were also its weapons. Dollars, and fanboys.

For these resources, Sony would invade Sega, Microsoft would annex Bungie, and the PC would dissolve into quarrelling, bickering gaming communities, bent on controlling the last remaining exclusives on the platform.

In the year 2006, the storm of the console war would come again. In two brief years, most of hardcore gaming was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of the Wii's devastation, a new community of hardcore gamers would struggle to arise.

Can anyone help me tweak/complete this?

First off, very good TC. I found it less funny than some and more... serious I think is the right word for it. Maybe not totally like your post, but more like "BuryMe's" post above.

I won't spend $30 on a PSone game and its hard to get me to buy a SNES game since I don't own one, but I'm becoming less and less willing to buy games in this gen. There are some golden games, but really all of them are an experience similar to another. And that is why I plan on going to buy The World Ends With You tonight, cause it is something different (I hope...).
