a few steam titles support steamplay, so that means they run on mac like team fortress and stuff. I think starcraft 2 runs on mac as well

I agree. I have a 2007 macbook pro model, and all the source games runs fine on it. And the models that just came out(15inch screen and above only) should run sc2 with maxed settings.

That's like trying to walk through a brick wall, no offense, but unless your a mutant from X-men, gaming on a mac, is that.

Gaming and OS X doesn't really fit together well in the same sentence unless it's this one.

Just bought starcraft 2 for my macbook today :P

Well, yesterday since its past midnight....

Works fine, though I turned the setting almost all the way down because I value stability and quick loading over graphics on my RTSes

That was the wisest course of action anyway.

You games will perform poorly on a laptop, you should consider spending some money on a desktop.

Gaming and Mac dont go together very well, despite claims of more efficient hardware the majority of games run substantially better on a Windows Laptop/Computer. You will get a few major games, but far from everything. Why can you not stand windows? User Interface wise it is nearly identical, it is despite popular macboy rubbish a far less secure OS, and limited in comparison, with very little substantial software that is not available on windows. But anyway, PC Gaming at the present is Windows so just dual boot, yet another reason why Apple OS is just a flashy waste of market space.

Steam is your best bet to find a good deal of games available for Mac OS X. All Blizzard games work on Mac OS X as well, I believe.

If you "can't stand windows" then perhaps your brain is not sophisticated enough to handle PC gaming. :P But seriously, if Bill Gates killed your parents or something then just get Ubuntu.

Sad all people have to say about gaming on a MacBook is that it sucks. I'm pretty sure I can say it doesn't suck when I have over thirty games on my MacBook (including Crysis 1 and 2, Just Cause 2, and STALKER) all of which run great. Truth is, is that MacBooks aren't the best gaming laptop, yet if one is buying laptops for the sole purpose of gaming, then you are doing it wrong.

Valve games, starcraft 2, a good amount of indie games as well like World of Goo, Trine (I think), Civ 5.

gamerdude970
not many, call of duty 4, starcraft 2, assassin creed 1 and 2, civilization 5 and source games are among the most advanced. I know you hate windows, but as long as your hdd is big enough, i would still consider bootcamp, that's how i play my games on my mbp2010 (i5@ 2.53, 4 gigs of ram, nvidia m330n 256), it really, really, really increases your hardware performance... oh yeah, and I hate the feel of many gaming mice on osx, mine isn't even recognized by osx.
