You will sit on a seat. Plug in a huge cable in your neck. Lay back and enter a realtime rendered realtime world where everything is fully

interactional. Need to eat? No problem, your fuel and energy will be provided via tubes entering directly your stomach and solar panels. Need to sleep? No problem, you won't get tire because your body will be in a sub-consciousness state while your brain synapses are fully operational in the 3D rendered world. Everything will be one big cloud where everyone is connected with eachother.

System wars will be one huge battleground with realtime physics, high texture models and world.

Not to mention time slows down so meaning if you've been gaming for 100 years, in real life it has only been 1 hour.

Now that's some crazy inception stuff ._.

The Matrix concept is flawed. I don't like it at all. I would never insert a tube in the back of my neck. I think VR will be possible with some sort of portable green room technology made for households. No tubes or anything.

Or Tron.

Anyway you might be playing around TC, but some of what you're saying may eventually become the future of interactive entertainment. Much like what you might see in Inception, but by then, I just hope that people have imagination enough to create worlds more interesting than just creating buildings of which porpuse is only to be destroyed--see inception.

No wonder I found the film to be an unimaginative piece of crap, where the depiction of the dream state couldn't be more boring--kidding, I kind of liked the movie, not everything clicked with me though.

Actually yeah, that thought would be much better than inserting a freaking tube over your head. Most of the hardware that we'll need will probably be inside of our bodies, so no need to jack anything in. We'll be wireless and we'll be able to acess it any time we want. So yeah, let's all speculate about a future that probably won't be here long after we're dead... but who knows, I might be proven wrong :o

agreed.. actually microsoft have there own holodeck atm.. its for practical purposes les mass erver management.

you can drop your smartphone on a tbale have it integrate with the room around it and you can literally throw windows and files across the room.

I think the next thing to innovate the VR scene would be magic.

But seriously, I'm predicting a future where we just stick VR patches to our temples instead of inserting tubes and what not. I think it would be awesome if I could do 1000 hours of gaming in 1 minute. Although mentally that would take its toll and before long side effects would arise resulting in gamer zombies whose bodies are just in their teens but their minds have aged to death. This might be how the zombie apocalypse happens. Maybe VR isn't such a good idea after all.

I always loved the concept of VR and "living out the game". I mean, look at the Call of Duty 4 campaign. Imagine al of those moments and fun in full realizm experienced as if you were there, but without the drawbacks it would have if it were real (such as the countless amount of boring preparation and travel time i between missions as well the whole dying thing).

Living through Fallout 3 without the drawbacks of having to actually die or know I'm really drinking terrible dirty water is kind of a dream of mine.

Currently I am playing Fallout New Vegas while PSN is down. I agree with what you said about living in the fallout universe as the character. Besides just fallout, any rpg will do. Scratch that idea as well, any game will do. While on topic, anybody remember that PS2 commercial that showed PS9 gaming where the person if I recall correctly breathed in the game and was the character.

What will happen is that 100 years on, everybody will think 'lol "gaming" was a funny fad of the early 21st century, people were really douches back then', just like we now think of jousting and melees.

We'll all be dead before this sort of stuff happens, and i'm guessing technology will have moved on to the point tubes aren't needed, Sony has patented brainwave stimulation so maybe we put on a hat and begin playing an RPG.. That would be sweet.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the idea of gaming directly interfacing with our minds and bodies? I'd rather not be turned into an flaming epileptic because some douche sent a trojan to my implants.

And what about when the electronics burn out? Because they will eventually. We all know how shoddy components can fry and ruin an entire machine. Would you like smouldering electronics in your body? Even if it was something minute you would most likely still have to get surgery just to replace the damaged part.

No thanks.

And what if you're wrong. Or in a way right, where in 300 years the industry would have evolved and changed so dramatically to a point where the views we have of gaming today won't apply at all. Where the most beautiful and significant works done by man will actually be done then because of the evolution in the interactive industry :o.

Hell maybe in 200 years we'll be looking at something like film, compare it to the interactive industry and arrive at the conclusion of how much of a fad or how unnatural, horribly intuitive or just how dull it really was for your senses to stand in front of a television or cinema and watch a bunch of image and sound play in front of our eyes--If Roger Ebert were alive by then he'd probably have a heart attack.

Or hell, maybe the industry will die in 50 years. Who the hell knows really.
