A member of our forums (Teeda) was kind enough to share some of the latest rumors involving the Game Developers Conference with us. There are some very interesting tidbits in there that should make every PlayStation fan very happy should they pan out to be true. Here's the latest:
New 80gb PS3 bundled with 2 games will be launched at the end of March.it will cost 399$ (already confirmed).
New 40gb ps3 sku will be launched this May. The cost will be 299$.
PSP slide will be shown for the first time in this year's E3. The launch is next year.
The currently available PSP model will get a price cut too. The cost will be 119$.
Fumito Ueda will be there at GDC '09. He will announce 2 projects. One of them is Shadow of the Colossus Online.
Syphon Filter is underway to PS3. Apparently the developers are using the same engine behind Killzone2.
Insomniac is developing a new action platformer RPG. It looks like a Zelda clone.
Jak 4 is on the way too.
Daxter 2 will be ready at the time of PSP slide launch.
Legend of Dragoon is under development and is to be launched in japan this year.
A lot of this reaks of wishful thinking, like the Insomniac Action/Platformer/RPG. Jak 4 has been predicted with every major coonvention, SoTC Online is straight up BS, and the PSP dropping all the way to 120 is also BS.
Now, I can believe a Syphon Filter PS3 game is in the works, and releasing a 40 GB for $300 would be a smart move IMO.
Jak 4 would seal the deal for a PS3 buy from me at lest. The rest sound odd; SotC Online, not sure how would that work and a new Daxter for the PSP Slide? A new PSP is being rumoured but I would guess Sony would announce the handheld before they announced any games for it. A Zelda'esque RPG from Insomniac would kick ass though.
if all that gets officialy announced i will go downstairs, open up my ps3 and kiss its cell processor!
[QUOTE="Kahuna_1"]Yeah, Team ICO is too cool to do anything except vaguely tie in their games.Shadow of the Colossus online is so fake its not even funny.

Eh? It doesn't fit the game play or the story at all...[QUOTE="Nero_Paladin"][QUOTE="Tiefster"]Yeah, Team ICO is too cool to do anything except vaguely tie in their games.GundamGuy0

Eh? It doesn't fit the game play or the story at all...Okay, I found it HERE
Ueda has also revealed that when the team started working on Shadow of the Colossus, the idea was to include an online mode, something which did not happen due to time constraints and lack of expertise with the technology required to implement such a mode.
But your right it wouldnt have fit the story unless it was something extra you could do when you finished the game.
That's to f****** good to be true. If so, I will glady kiss my Wii, put it in the closet, and let it collect dust until Nintendo reveals a new Zelda. Because I'll be spending too much time protecting my PS3 for these games.
I said this in another thread, but it makes sense here too.
This might sound weird but I'm hoping for a firmware update and a PSN yearly charge. It bothers me on a level I cant explain that devs have to pay to put demos and DLC on PSN.
And since it's GDC, maybe they will announce such a fee... but I dont count on it.
Look stuff here especially Syphon Filter I can only dream of a 299.99 40 gig PS3, I'd finally own one. It just needs backwards compatibility Toriko42BC isnt a big deal. It wont have BC i can bet on that. why do people want the BC so bad, i mean with such great games out for the ps3 now, why would u play ps2, ps1 games on ur ps3??

Because...you want to play PS2 and PS1 games? They had good games back then too, you know.
