No the megatons r being announced, just not for consumers. For developers, this is their E3. The new tech and features being announced are what drives them to make amazing games and we see the results of that later in the year. Sony jus got people in a loop cause last year they went against the norm and actually showed new things.

Doubtful. Only "megatons" (I refuse to do the caps and 1s) I see could be from Nintendo. Probably in the form of Pikmin 3 or something.
I can't see Pikmin 3 being a megaton...it just doesn't appeal to some people I guess. I could see one from them, a revamp of their online service or a huge change in infrastructure would help a lot.
newsflash, its a conference..with lectures meant for other game developers on how to make better games and how the industry in general works. GDC was never intended to unveil crap for the general public, even though media love to stick their butts outside the building and bring you useless hot updates like what g4 does.
GDC its like a gaming version of the State of the Union adress, only these people know what they are talking about.
the only thing that is remotely interesting for the public are the keynotes since they generally delve into the more general aspects of the market and go on a boasting spree to please all the fanboys, so wait for those.

GDC isn't the place for that... You should have known this already if you've been following the industry for even 2 years..
GDC is as the name suggest... GAME DEVELOPER CONFERENCE. (I don't mean that in a yelling tone... :P ) So naturally, you get a conference of Game developers who do what they always do at this event... Talk about the tech, future, and ideas of gaming and propose, have keynotes, adress issues, and so on. Gaming wise, there's hardly anything new or Megaton, because this isn't E3.
Maybe not Pikmin... I'd love to see them introduce a HDD though.

Last year there was almost no E3. So far this year I have yet to see them say anything about E3. Even on their own website.

According to the one interview Gears of War 2 was in development even before Gears 1 was released. I am sure This game is getting everything they could not fit in the first along with the updated graphics and killer engine and physics upgrades.

GDC isnt as upbeat as E3 is when it comes to new announcements. I got what I was expecting from GDC and then some (XNA) so far so whatever your expectations where they definatly sounded way to high for a game developer conference.
