id personally say so. the single player was alot of fun, not quite as much as res evil 4 but with a great multiplayer and online co-op i think it fits nicely into the 9.6 rating.
I enjoyed it, but it seems to have been put on a "breakthrough" pedestal by some people, which I don't really agree with. It's good, but slightly overrated.
There is always someone who thinks an AAA rated game is overrated. Halo, Halo 2, GeOW, halife 2, GTA series, Mario. I don't tjhink it's a matter of ratings, I think it is a matter of taste. Is the game on a platform the critic doesn't own? Is the game of a genre the critic doesn't like? Those are some questions to ask the critics. Just because someone didn't enjoy the game, doesn't mean other wont. I end up asking myself, "on the whole, does this AAA game help (expand) the videogame industry?" And most of the time, the answer is yes.
Maybe if the gameplay was longer, then it deserved what it got. I though it was a good game, but nothing that really made me say wow. Maybe they'll fix that in 2.
No doubt Gears of War is a great and outstanding game, at the end of the day everyone has their own opinion. Like for example I like the game, honestly I would rate it 9.2 whereas someone else might rate is 9.9 or 7.8.
IMO, I think GeoW was a great game, I loved every second of it, I just wish it was longer, but I know people who hate Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Fable, Mario, Zelda, etc. so it doesn't surprise me at all that people dislike GeoW, its all a matter of taste.
8.4, but I'm not really a huge fan of shooters in the first place. I don't understand how people love the game like they do, but then again a lot of people don't understand why I think San Andreas was such a great game. Each to his own, right?
Its a great technical achievement but it didn't really revolutionize anything or bring anything new to the genre. Okami deserved GOTY imo. Tiefster
I have to agree with you. I would have rated Gears a 9.2. The game is great but the single player is too short, especially when games this gen are getting much lower scores due to lack of offline single player capabilities(ie. Motorstorm)
