Gears 2 curb stomps Sackboy in UK sales

You all can read the article but the fact that stood out the most to me was that Gears 2 has the 3rd best first week sales in UK just behind GTA and Halo 3.

LBP came out 2 days earlier and still only came in at number 4 while Gears 2 of course took the number 1 slot

Another interesting fact for the PS3 fans the first week sales of Motorstorm was ranked at number 29

Yeah, in all fairness LBP's launch didn't go so hot.

Still, I expected Gears 2 to sell more just because so many people own a 360 and lets be honest, how many of those people have not played the first Gears, right? So naturally, the sequel has an advantage. 

Well its predicted as much.

I agree that Gears was expected to be a monster seller. LBP comming in at 4 and Motorstorm at 29 in first week sales does shock me a little bit. LBP was hyped to no end and MS2 has had a lot of TV adds also.

LBP was being advertised like crazy..

if you want a game that is little to no marketing..check out the last remnant

Uuuhh... nobody said it sucks... and being in the top 5 at all for sales is pretty damn successful.

Really? I haven't seen a single ad for LBP whether it be print, TV, or even on the internet.

Wait, completely forgot I have Adblock, that could be the problem. :P

There hasn't been much LBP advertisement outside of the US.

comparing a proven franchise shooter to a platformer or what ever it is kiddy game....wow, fair.

Nobody said it would sell millions, but everybody thought it would be successful. LBP is a pretty big success sales wise for a game that is "different" from many other games (i.e not a shooter or RPG)
