Does anyone think that Gears 2 won't have better graphics then Uncharted?

Its unlikely that GeOW2 will look much better than GeOW.raynimrod
Yeah seriously they prettymuch pushed 360 to the limit. Maybe can optomize for more stuff going on and better AI but it's not really gonna get any better.

No, because they won't be trying to severely upgrade the engine this time. Their codebase works, so they're going to focus on improving the actual game.
You can say that about Resistance too. :|

UT3 already looks better than Uncharted, unless you like screen tearing, inconsistent textures, and alot of texture pop-in. Lets face itTerroRizing
LOL Uncharted has far better textures then Gears of War or UT3 and less texture pop in what the hell are you talking about.

lol, i would ask for a link but i know you're not gonna to find one. Epic already said that they only used about 1/4 of the 360's power or something like that.
I would sure HOPE that it looks better than Uncharted... it's likely to be coming out at least an entire year later. But then again, I suspect that Uncharted 2 will also look better than Gears 2... so I fail to see the point.
Having already played UT3 though, I seriously doubt it will look any better than MGS4, KZ2, or Resistance 2. There was an article recently stating that there are already next gen engines producing better looking games than the unreal engine at this point... so I don't really expect for GeOW2 to set any kind of graphical standard.

I own both UT3 and uncharted, Uncharted has constant texture pop while UT3 only has some minor texture pop at the start of a level. Dont just take my word for it, read any review of both games, UT3 graphics > Uncharted graphics.

i don't know... uncharted definitly has MORE textures... but the textures in GeOW are of a higher resolution.

I wasnt even talking Gears of War, I was talking UT3 on ps3. Overall, its the best looking console game right now. Screen tearing and alot of texture pop bring Uncharted down a couple notches.

well? where's your proof which a dozen ppl asked for?
[QUOTE="the-very-best"]It probably will. Why are concerned about that?PS3_3DO
The first Gears had better graphics of any Console game when it came out.
Yeah...and?
Does it really matter if Gears 2 isn't the best looking game when released?

Sorry, but that just doesn't make any sense. Obviously Gears of War pushed the Xbox 360 as much as it could, I'm sure the developers squeezed the most effects & highest resolution textures that they could. It's not like Gears of War is a completely smooth game, there are a couple points where it runs rough for a little bit. I mean, obviously Gears of War wasn't using 25% of the Xbox 360 in any practical terms - it's using 100% of the CPU at times probably 100% of the RAM, etc.
Maybe a developer was talking about potential, but that's pretty subjective and I don't think there's an actual number someone can put on "potential".
Just my 2 cents....

Having worked on Xbox 360, from a technology standpoint, how much more do you think the system can be pushed with future games?
I think there's plenty of room to push and experiment when it comes to physics and AI and real-time lighting. I think we've only scratched the surface of what we can do with gameplay as well as the 360.There's far more potential down the road to do more stuff. As amazing as I think Gears is, and my gut tells me I still love playing it, I think we have a really incredible experience; I think we'll definitely push it further if we get around to dong a new version in the future.

^ theres your precious link that everyone is begging for saying gears reached 360 limits. I dont know, nor do I care if it is true(or a truthful site), so dont waste my time with your mindless debates. Also, why does the tc keep referring to R: fall of man....that was a friggin launch title! xD. Plus it only used 10 percent or so of the ps3's power. And I can even find a link proving that if you people are so desperate to grasp at one. In the end I hope gears 2 looks better because with as much time as 360 has been out compared to ps3, it would be sad if it didnt surpass Drake.

Um I own both to and I can count the times on 1 hand Uncharted has texture pop in. Not to mention uncharted won best visuals on PS3 over at IGN and beat out UT3 so im not sure what you are talking about?

Yet I owned you so ridiculously hard in the last thread you left.
again, you just pulled that from you a** without any proof.
Proof? It's pretty much common sense, but please feel free to address anything I've actually said. Do you actually disagree with the following:
1.) Gears of War is not a completely smooth game, several times during the campaign frame rates would drop below 30fps (the game is capped at 30fps)
2.) The frame rate dropping indicated that the CPU, RAM, or GPU is at full load
3.) Obviously Epic did not put an artificial cap on the game, allowing it to only access 25% of the RAM, CPU, GPU, etc.
4.) Talking about the potential of a machine is highly subjective and speculative
If you disagree with anything I've said, please feel free to show me the error in my ways.
