A 10 should NEVER under ANY circumstances be assumed. There's been like 2 or 3 in the last decade, despite all of the GREAT games we've seen. The max something should be hyped is 9.5, and a 10 will always be surprising.
But anyways, I think it will get a 9.5, it just looks that good.

Neither of those deserved a perfect score. If anything Gears 2 deserves one. Remember, scores are not based on improvements from the predecessor, they are on how fun and polished the game is.

True but the old review system was a lot better, anything which would score 9.7 or higher would probably be a 10 with this new lazy scoring system. I think a 10 is definitely possible for GeOW2, and I miss the old score system...

I don't think it's possible to hype a game AAAA on SW. Too many people hype AAA for the AAAA voters to count. This remind me when Bioshock scored a 9.0 and lemmings whined about how "But this is the game of the millenium. It deserves a ten! GS is insane!!" And CW argued that 9.0 is AAA and the game delivered.
I am a cow but even I can admit this will score a max of 9.5 and a minimum of 9. If it doesn't score any of those scores besides a 10 than there is something seriously wrong wtih GS. I am sure everyone can agree.
every preview has been overwhelmingly positive and mentioned how painstaking the wait for the release is. going by previews alone, im expecting a lot of 10/10's. maybe not on gs but there will be a lot of 10/10's

then you obviously have no idea how much they have improved gears 2 over the original.
Oh, I know how much it has been improved. I just don't know if GS will award AAA. Jeff G. reviewed the 1st Gears, and I have no clue what Gears 2 will receive from a different reviewer. I know that 3rd person shooter sequels have not been known to score AAA...GRAW 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 come to mind. I'm not saying Gears 2 won't score AAA, I'm just not confident enough to hype it that.
There is one way, which is if Gears of War 2 comes out with a very good story. If they do that, it might put the jump on the reviewers to say. Gears 2 is an amazing evolution of the series, expanding the battlefield, expanding the multiplayer, improving the graphics a lot (just play the game or watch the videos and then go play Gears of War 1 and come back to me), and on top of that putting a good story, which makes it nothing less than perfect.
