GEARS Is still KING Of console games to date!!

I say Halo 3 and BioShock have both surpassed it, at least as far as shooters go.

Halo3 beats Gears in gameplay, sound, replayability, controls, and the diversity of weapons/maps/gametypes. Vyse_The_Daring

First off let me say that I love Halo 3 and im hooked on it. But I must say that Gears is still king of console games currently in terms of overall gameplay, graphics and sound. Halo 3 is awesome no doubt about it BUT its really no different than Halo 2.. Wait let me rephrase that.. its A LOT better than Halo 2, but not that much upgraded in terms of graphics and the graphics and controls are pretty much the same but with a lot better weapons, maps and vehicles. BUT Gears is hands down still king in every department and is still highest rated console exclusive game this gen! So yea, what game will dethrone Gears?!MikeCOD80

Dude I loved Gears of War, but I have to say, it is a joke compared to Halo 3 (IMO anyway). The story is practically non-existant, it launched with only 8 multiplayer maps and3 gametypes (and they're all pretty much the same thing), no vehicles (except for one mission), horrendous host advantage, etc...

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii has sold around 5 million. Just as much if not more than Gears of War.

And its single player is ALOT longer than 8 hours. FYI.

Not even close, IMO. Gears was good, great even, but its single player was a bit too short, and the multiplayer is a gimped glitchfest.

It was good, I will give it that, but BioShock, Halo 3, Rainbow Six: Vegas, and a few others are all better shooters IMO.

Hd Tv with pretty bump effects do not make a game better. Oh and paying for your online to feel special owning someone over a silly mic and 50 bucks does not make 360 a great online exp. Save up get a PC and play something worthy of online play.

And yes Final Fantasy 7 still sucks, always has and always will. FF6 still owns it. Peace. Flame away i love to hear to complaints back at me. Hell my X-band on my Super Nes ran a better connection through a phone line playing Street Fighter then my Xbox Live does or my friends PS3 with his Warhawk.

No other game is like it? It blatantly borrows from many games. It's essentially a combination of RE4, Halo, and Killswitch.

No I don't see how that works. Gears has a cover system unlike any game ever made, while Halo 3 is pretty much the same is Halo 2. Plus the chainsaw kicks any weapon from Halo's a$$!

Gears' cover system is essentially the same thing as Killswitchs, and Gravity Hammer > chainsaw.

WinBack was one of the first mainstream console games with a cover mechanic, and kill.Switch had a cover mechanic that is eerily similar to Gears, a generation before Gears came out.

And Rainbow Si: Vegas bested Gears cover system within months, making it more fluid and less frustrating.

I wasn't aware the sword could completely demolish vehicles and did splash damage. The chainsaw is the same damn animation over and over again, it's awesome the first time but it gets old really fast.

Rainbow Six's cover system is superbly done. Don't just go with my opinion, I have yet to see a professional reviewer say anything negative about the mechanic, and in fact, most praise it as intuitive and simple to use.

The chainsaw is the equivalent of running around in Halo grabbing the sword and rockets. Its cheap.

Add to that the rampant glitches/cheats Epic chooses to ignore, and games become either host advantage, hiding griefers, or glitchers.

halo3 is simply more epic looking, and has a hell of a lot more repplay value
