Amazon.com has a preorder page for gears 2. it says its out november 15, 2008. while i realize it is far from a confirmation, cliffy B's team is not working on UT3. and it only took 2 years, 20 guys, and less than 10 million dollars to make gears.

That's great, because I wanna shoot the **** out of the cliffhanger Locust. Gears' last boss wasn't badass enough by far. Why do games start with great bosses then end on something so much less intimidating and cool?

The engine is also built so sequels will not take as long. Many games with new engines take years but once its built the sequels can improve them and innovate them. Why in general sequels are better and have less problems.

Gears 2 will be out 2008 and Mass Effect2 March 2009 maybe even earlier. Just a guess...

Sometimes companies like Amazon will put in a filler date to have the game readyfor pre-order. So I would not expect that date to stick. They just want you to go ahead and pre-order the game.HarlockJC

Of course not. They wouldn't want to be entirely honest, would they?

Anyway, that engine has paid for itself, so why would they include it? Oh, because other people who use it have to pay for it? That's their problem.

I was mildly pleased with the first. I'm assuming the second will also be pleasing. If I had it my way, the second would be about the history of Marcus and the day all hell broke loose. The third would pick up where the first left off. Catch all that?musicalmac

Why not just have the prequel and sequel in the same game?

Have like 4 hours of prequel, then maybe 10 minutes of recap from the first, and then start you off where the first left off?

I think games should do that more often.

What I want in GeOW 2:

1) Dedicated servers for online play... no more host advantage!

2) Longer campaign. I didn't think the first one was too short, but more play time is always a good thing as long as they keep the pacing right!.

3) 4 Player Online Co-op.

Make me happy Epic.

I think games should do that more often.

That would be a good way to mix things ups and keep people interested with what was happening. I think doing that could improve the story and add on a couple hours to the SP. As long as they bring back co-op the SP will be fun for me no matter what they decide to do.

Yeah, the thing is he didn't select the game. Days did.

As a 360 owner i have to say that fater Gears 1 i doubt ill get the second one. It was good but I have no desire to play the sequel. So many better games on the system.hazuki87

Twisted Metal 2, God of War 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, and more. I think it's possible.

Can't wait. Gears Of War was at the end of the day a superb and fresh game with lot's of interesting mechanics that has more or less become standard today. I only hope that they are going to be just as ambitious on this one and not make some cheap cash in game just for the sake of a sequel.

Looking forward to further details on the title later on.

Epic deson't know a thing called a FLOP, what they care about is the sales numbers, and I think UT3 will sell well.

I would not take that date too seriously, Gamestop does the same thing and just makes up dates out of nothing to secure that $5 preorder fee and lock down a sale.

They also get to make money on interest that accumulates on preorder money so for them making up a release date is a complete win-win situation.

When the game does not release on the date they have they get to say, "sorry, the devs pushed it back".
