On the new issue of game pro (still on the website), Gears of War 2 is mntinoed twice on the cover!!!!!!!!!!!! An 08 release, PROBABLY!!!!!!!

no not in 08, they need to sell more ut 3 copies first and release ut 3 on the 360 first.

Casual gamers bought it because of word of mouth and advertising. The graphics helped but to say Gears' hype was purely based on its graphics is ridiculous.

It was the first game I played and thought to myself this IS next-gen

Chainsaw Lancer kicked ass and the graphics and gameplay were great imo

Gears sold over 4million. That alone says that the casuals cared about the games. Just like they cared about halo and they will buy it again.

And I don't really see why the casuals has anything to do about the fact that you called gears graphics the only reason the game was good.

Sony Fan still can't come to grips with the fact they won't be playing GOW on their system.

But they did get UT3 early:roll:.

Small levels: Check

Extreme Linearity: Check

Lack of any AI: Check

Bland, dark colors: Check

Redundant Duck and Cover Gameplay: Check

Weak sounding weapons: Check

Lack of Gameplay diversity: Check

Cliche steriod jar-head characters: Check

Hide behind the same concrete barrier or pillar, aim, shoot, and outlast the hitpoints of the bad guy: Check

Pickup lame gametags: Check

There has gotta be more. Anybody else wanna comment on this borefest?

Face it, it is good game and you hermits are only pissed on this game because it wasn't a pure FPS PC game.

The graphics is great

Story is bad but so is every other shooter out there (even the overrated Half life 2).

AI on enemies are very good on higher difficulties

Controls are superb

Bland and dark colours, hello WiC, Call of duty 4, Assasins creed, The witcher.

The sound is great, if you have fired a real weapon you will know that not all guns sounds like a canon.

Mad it got GOTY? Yes. I bought the game believing it was a quality GOTY title because of the Gamespot review. I am mad it received a GOTY nomination because quite frankly after playing it, it is NOT GOTY material. There is nothing new, innovative, or particularly inspiring about the gameplay. Please explain how inspiring it is. Could it be the duck and cover gameplay....throughout the entire game? The same thing over and over and over again?

And how about those massive unique levels?

The sound is great? Well, I will admit I am not a fire arms specialist, but I have fired a 12 gauge shotgun. Not only is it deafiningly loud, but it hits you in the shoulder like a professional linebacker. The weapon sound in Gears is so bland and uninspired. In fact the sound of the automatic rifles reminded me of when I was a kid using a hand held carrot or potato pealer. tck tck tck.....tck tck tck... Pathetic.

I think you may have got me on the control part. I mean how can they not work well? Push one button to either duck and cover, jump, run. Push another button to fire. Push one button to reload. Push one button to change weapon. Not to difficult to mess that up. Yeah, the controls are great. Nice and simple just like the casual gameplay.

Glad you admit that the colors are bland and dark. Those other games at least have variety and aren't practically entirely gray and dark.

AI? There is none, other than they know where the player is and shoot at him. Other than that, all they do is duck and cover. Just like the boring gameplay that the human gamer must endure. Duck/cover. Aim and shoot. Move to the next concrete jersey barrier. Duck and cover. Aim and shoot. Oh, hey! Here is some gameplay twist: Instead of running to the next jersey barrier, we can duck and cover behind a burned out vehicle and duck and cover. Then aim and shoot. Over and over again. Oh here is another twist: The chord has sounded DAAAAa. Here they come out of a hole in the ground. Guess what? Time to Duck/Cover rinse and repeat ad infinium.....

The game is boring, casual, streamlined, uninspired and completely commercial. I seeth at this game because I feel I was lied to by the gaming press and its GOTY nomination. It clearly does not earn or deserve the prestige over many other quality games from 2006, that is for sure.

Gears of War 2 will overshadow any games coming from the other consoles. The hype alone will conquer over the hype for other games for the other consoles. It will be like the second coming of Christ. I saw this magazine in the store but it had the plastic wrapped but you could see the GeOW logo on the cover.
