Gears of War 2 Screenshots: Original vs. Sequel

So what ya think about this ?

For me, Gears 2 needn't look all that much better then Gears to be great - what it needs to do is be new & fun work nicely on-line which I think is almost guaranteed. :D

Accompanying our in-depth look at Gears of War 2's multiplayer modes, publisher Microsoft has provided some new screenshots comparing the original Gears of War multiplayer maps to the remakes found in the Gears of War 2 Flashback Map Pack.
Left, Canals in GOW1. Right, GOW2 Canals.

A free one-time use codefor the Flashback Pack will be bundled with all new copies of Epic's Xbox 360-exclusive sequel, which will be available on November 7.

i remember the days when cows said gears 1 would suck, then all disappeared when the review came out. i imagine the same thing will happen again come thee 7th, or 15th, or however long gs takes to put out a review, seems so random nowadays.mtradr43

well gee, i would do that, if only this topic was about those games. but are they? last time i looked, the title was just about gears. sorry for me staying on topic. by the way, before you nooblets say gears 1 looks better, you may want to check the other screenshots for the other levels, not take the cow method to showing screens. like you said, show both sides.

canals looks slightly better on gears 1 because it gears 2 its stylized to have lots of snow and that covers details. look at other maps:

From what I've seen,Gears 2 barely,and I mean barely,improves on the original graphically.Luckily the the original looked great.But Gears 2 won't be able to amaze as many people with its graphics this time around.stvee101

i hated tyro as a map, but i love what they did to it visually. maybe there will be some other changes we cant see that will make it more fun to play.

you must be a little color blind because i clearly i see red, brown, green, orange, beige, blue. you wont find purples and pinks in gears of war

The setting takes place right after a nuclear war. Would you really like for it to be bright and colorful?

No. Pic 1 is GeoW1 and Pic 2 is GeoW2. He didn't mix anything up.

Gears 1.5 FTW! Still it will have the best graphics of the Xbox 360.

As for the PS3 it already has two games which look better (Uncharted and MGS4) and it will get a game which will make 360 look outdated (Killzone 2)

its because the snow is covering everything. the other maps look better in gears 2. they are remakes so i dont know what people are expecting. its the same map but reskinned.

I LOVE the new look for Canals!

The reason Canals in Gears 1 may look better is because of the textures. There's not much stuff you can do with snow on the ground. I'm sure there will be some cool weather effects though :).
