Gears of War 2 will sell more, but mostly appeal to the 360's existing fanbase.
However, Resistance 2 will help many people who've been sitting on the fence buy a PS3.

I don't think either will do much for their console. If you wanted a console to play shooting games you probably already bought one for the gazzilion of them released so far this gen. If you don't like shooters this isn't going to sway you and I really don't see people talking about 'waiting till gears or resistance drops to purchase'.

why?
Gears2 will reciever better critical reception and sell more, but personally im more psyched about Resistance2. Gears2 is basically Gears1 with a little bit better graphics and new levels. Now thats not a bad thing at all, considering the first was amazing. Resistance2 though seems like its evolving from where it began. Its trying push the envelope and really trying to redifine scale in console FPSes, so im curious to see how it turns out :PII_Seraphim_II

60 player MP actually does add to scale of multiplayer battlefield. 8 player Co-op online actually adds alot to the scale of online co-op. And the monster seems pretty bad ass and big as hell...SotC size monster, i know im excited. Ok, tell me this, which game seems to be doing more different from its predecessor?

its actually pretty true. Gears2 isnt that big a leap over gears1. Sure there are some new weapons and more enemies on screen, but Gears2 is basically just Gears1 with sum extra features. Much like God of War 2 is God of War1 with extra features. Thats what sequels are. And then every once in a while, a dev will try to go further than what is needed to qualify as a sequel. Look at Halo3. That game wasnt just Halo2 + extra features. It went overboard and tried to deliver everything they could. THey jam packed it with every single thing you could possibly enjoy doing. Same goes for SSBB. They could have just added a few more characters and polished the graphics and added sum lvls, but they went all out and added a level creator and went all out. Thats what Resistance 2 seems to be doing.

NO, IM NOT SAYING THAT RESISTANCE 2 WILL BE BETTER THAN HALO3.

R1 has tons of enemies on screen so there is no worry, also its draw distance is real good.
gears enemies look fake and its probably again no more then 8 on screen.

lol, as if they even did anything.its like a crowd in a baseball game they do nothing and have no impact if you shoot and kill them or not.
In campaign. Neither. The "scale" got "bigger" but nothing impressive in big. Niether game says I am bigger than a FarCry 2, or a Crysis
or hell a Halo(all 3 included).
The MP is where all the improvements went
8 player coop
Versus
2 player coop with different difficulty for each player
plus 5 player coop(HORDE)
60 Player Online that is broken into factions of small teams
Versus
5 v 5 squad based gameplay with new weapons and new game modes, and a theatre mode.
So neither game is doing anything better than the first time by to really warrent a "HOLY CRAP what an improvement"
are both ready for AAA status...yes
are both games pushing anything big....sure for multiplayer....hell no so far for single player.
So to your question. neither is doing more than the other, both are doing similar adjustments, but nothing game changing.jg4xchamp
I dont get what the problem is...You act like people dont play multiplayer or sumthing.... :? Improvements to Multiplayer are still improvements. I mean multiplayer is part of the game...right? And 8 player Co-op with a seperate campaign, is pretty big, maybe not to you, but to alot of people.

Gears 2 will sell more. Resistance 2 will be the better game, imo. Gears 2 will offer the most fun coop but have rubbish multiplayer again. This is just my opinion, of course. I know a lot of people like Gears multiplayer, but I personally hated it.ejstrupi didn't hate it, i just thought for a long run it was average. for a short run exciting and fun.

why would you waste bullets on ememies that have no impact to the game? just as in the demo the building is coming down anyway those enemies have no impact and you never face them head on.

I hope so. I haven't seen or heard much of Gears 2 multiplayer so I'm making my assumptions based on the first one :P I can only hope to be pleasantly surprised when I get the game :D

I personally like Gears Multiplayer. I thought it was very well, and the 4v4 battles made it even more exciting because it was very intimate.

This is why gears wins. It'll be played till the end of the 360s life cycle or untill a new gears comes. Resistence cannot compete with it's multiplayer. Campaign wise it's a toss up, gears looks tobe massively improving theres.

If you are referring to the video that I am thinking of, it was an UE3 Tech demo, not a Gears of War 2 demo. They simply used Gears to show off the improvements that were made with the Unreal Engine.
I'm not sure. Depends heavily on Gears of War. I'm rather confident that Resistance will be an improvement over the previous one, but I'm not sure Gears will manage to do so. I'm sure Gears will sell like hotcakes, though.
If you point a gun at my head, I'd say Gears will sell better (in the US, at least), Resistance will help it's console more.
Chances are I'll get both.
well they're both sequels to a game that was already on there so i don't see how they sell systems. . . i think that gears 2 will be better in every waycrunchUKAsk Halo 2.

No kidding. Destructable cover changes things up a lot. It sounds like a small change, but it FORCES you to constantly move and find viable cover spots. Meat shields, larger environments, more enemies. Considering that Gears was kind of defined by smaller environments, fewer enemies, and using the best single cover spot you could find, it sounds WAY more different than Resistance 2 does, and as people have noted GeOW has a better pedigree than Resistance.[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"][QUOTE="II_Seraphim_II"]Gears2 will reciever better critical reception and sell more, but personally im more psyched about Resistance2. I really am just sick of FPS, they have different guns and such, but they feel the same to me. Some better than others.

Dunno bout that. Why would a shooter sequel attract more new users on either platform?
Gears2 improvements: Graphics are retouched and looked better, 5 player co op online (horde mode), new party system for friends, new screenshot ability like halo (you got that in ps3?), new grappling and shields add mobile cover, stopping power makes medium range battles a possibility, new ability to do proximity mines with grenades..then all the new campaign and other weaponry additions..what did resistance improve on? hopesfall2own
You do know in Resistance1 can take screenshots right...lol
