Fanboys might not like it, but I will be proven right. I have seen the vidoes and read many interviews, and Gears of War 2 will fail one major test: Will Gears of War 2 be as technologically advanced as Metal Gear Solid 4? By technologically advanced I am talking about the combination of graphics, sounds, and other gaming technogolies.
Have you noticed how you always avoid talking about what matter, the game's quality? Why? Easy, because you know, that, acording to Gamerankings (and I know you like to use Gamerankings) MGS4 is not considered better than Gears 1 or Halo 3- Two "old tech" 360 games are considered better than your "most technologically advanced game ever". Amazing.
I am quite sure that Gears of War 2 will not be as technologically advanced as MGS4.
Crystall Ball? Let's wait.
Why is this important? Because it means that Xbox 360 is aging. Remember, Epic is the developer of Gears 2, and Epic is currently the best Xbox 360 developer. Remember also that Epic has one year and a half extra experience working with Xbox 360, the console that everyone knows is easier to develop for.
Don't forget cansole graphics do not depend only on console's power, but also on the negine used. That's why God of War II looked better than most Xbox games, not because the hardware changed, but because the devs learned how to use it better.
If Epic can't make Gears of War 2 as technologically impressive as Metal Gear Solid 4, it means only one thing: Xbox 360 is getting old, unable to keep up with the PS3.
Welcome to the real world. What really matters is not if it will be "as technologically impressive", what matters is if it is will be a good game or not.
I think it is funny how you always talk about "technologically impressiveness" and never about something far more important, game quality. Maybe because the PS3 has only one game beyond 9 in GS? Or maybe because it has almost 100 games less that scored 80% or more on Metacritic? ;)
