Gears Of War 3 for the next Xbox?

Epic games seems to be in a "tweener" position. They can either make Gears of War 3 for the Xbox 360 with the next xbox coming out 1 or 2 years later or they can put all their effort into launching with the next Xbox.

What do you think they should do?

Gears of War 3 and a Bungie game would be a great launch lineup.

I wholeheartedly agree that there's not much left to improve on for the Xbox 360.

I'd love to see what Epic could do on the next Xbox.

sorry but the industry only moves forward and if not it will stagnate. i positive Epic will release Gears 3 on the next Xbox and not this generation, they have almost maxed the current box capability. not that gears 3 would be bad on the 360 but i would rather have them focus resources on next gen gears using UE4, and im sure MS will give them the low down on what the next box will be capable of. Gears 3=100% destructibility physics, ultra dynamic AI, DX11, 1080p native, and Crysis graphicsX3.

Why are you so eager for next gen? You understand you have to pay $500+ for another console as well as $70 for games.

I suppose you are correct but this gen is far from over. People talk about the new Xbox like it's coming in a short 2 years.

i mean..where at the point where graphics are just fine..and the Media capabilites, and market places are great..i dont think we need another one...we would just have to start back at Zero if there was another console

Uh because the next xbox is comming in about two years and it will take about the same amount of time to make the game. They can either make it for the 360 and be gurrenteed big sales right off the bat or they can make it the big launch game for the next xbox and take advantage of whatever awsome features and hardware MS unleashes but the sales will be more a slow burn because of the small install base.

Uh there are thousands upon thousands of games that probably hold one or more of those exact same opinions. Are they all too ignorent for words? When did the MGS series become the god of gaming and any criticism of it automatically invalid? I mean what he said was perfectly true, the game does take cut scenes to and extreme, wether you like that or not is a matter of opinion. From the demo he seems perfectly right about mirros edge, IMO its probably going to be a 5 hour QTE with no replay value. Again just an opinion that could be proven wrong.

if you think the next xbox is coming out in 2 years you don't know anything, xbox 1 =/= xbox 360, just because xbox 1 had a 4 year life span doesn't mean the 360 will do the ssame, if something happens once its not a trend

Yes pushing the boundaries is great..and without them there is no change..but i think the consoles can last a few more years without another one..The consoles graphics are just fine now..and i see no need to release yet another console to show off your E-Peen about how you have the best graphics.

About the Zero thing..It when you have a console..and you spend so much money and stuff on it..only to have 4 years later, a new console come out..then you have to abandon your old POS for the new system..its like starting all over again..i really hate the feeling of having all these games and stuff..then your system is oboslete within 4 years and you have to buy another system (not saying you have to but most do).

Five years is the industry average and in two years the 360 will ahve been out five years. No I dont know for sure but its easy to make an educated guess, especially when we are hypothesizing on reasons Epic might make Gears 3 for Xbox Next. If they consider making it a launch gamer MS will obviously tell them when that is .

That is a matter of opinion and I strongly disagree. We wont be at that point untill we have full on virtual reality. And dont give me the "I hate realistic graphics" line because your styalized graphics will look a hell of a lot better too.

I would have the second choice..who woulden't?

But for right now..i think where good..of course theres always room for improvement, thats a no-brainer, but for right now i dont think we need another system..i would rather have PS3's 10 year cycle instead of 5.

I wish it was more like PC gaming..where you can keep your old card..but you still have some chance of running new games..for example..i can play Fallout 3 nicely on my X1950 pro...but on consoles..if i want the "next gen" experence i would have to buy a completly new system..which is annoying after years of doing it.

For once i just want the consoles to last longer than they should..because its not like every game wants the push the bounderies..

Thats where your wrong. Graphics tech is already three or four times as powerful as current consoles. There will be a huge leap as there is every generation, unless everyone decides to pull a Wii.

MGS4 is not the god of all gaming, but it is without a doubt one of the best games out there today, saying something negative about it and then later turning around and praising is just a perfect example of speaking without thinking. Mirror's edge is a game designed not to rely on guns too much. I'm one of the people who has a negative outlook on how the game will cope once it comes out, but even I know what it's about and what its purpose is...a sign of ignorance from him again. His statemnt on pc gaming was just out of spite since his first game didn't do too well on that platform when compared to its earlier release. I don't favor pc gaming over consol gaming, however, Even I, who isn't as well versed as the average pc gamer, knows there's nopthing but BS in that statement.

Anyways, my problem with him doesn't lie purely in what he says, it's how he says it. A proffesional with ignorant fanboy remarks that are no better than what you see here on a day to day basis doesn't deserve my respect....that is why my opinion still remains, that he should be tossed in a puddle of sewage.

I think the jump from Xbox to 360/PS3 was smaller then it could have been because both MS and Sony skimped badly in RAM. The jump was smaller then from the PS1/N64 to PS2/Xbox and they also increased rendering resolutions massivily.

Honestly, I'd rather have Gears 3 when the new Xbox launches...but at the same time, I want this gen to last until I feel it's right to move onto the next gen(Most likely that'll happen when I notice the trend of garbage games coming out.)

2 more years is enough for me...I wouldn't mind 3. But in 2 years, I'll be able to afford a new system. I just hope Epic Games take full potential of the new hardware and UE4 while they're developing Gears 3.

Kojima has geen known and loved since like 1998, hell maybe before that, with the majority of his titles ZOE and MGS...Cliffy with just Gears of War.

If we dont keep increasing graphical power we will never get there. What makes you so sure that if a new console comes out in two years it will be just a small improvement in graphics? When has that ever happend before outside of the Wii? With the rate Nvidia and AMD are turning out new graphics chips it iwll be a huge leap. Also most likely everyone will be using some sort of advanced motion technology. Of course PC's will get to VR first but consoles need to keep updating too. As for the realistic graphics comment that wasnt directed at you specifically I just threw that out there because thats what people usually say when I have this kind of arguement.

Yeah he talks crap, but he said it himself that it's all fun. If I knew my game was really good...I would gloat no doubt. It's all fun and games on his part. People on this forum have some stupid grudge against a guy that speaks his mind. There's nothing wrong with that. And you're no better than he is with you're comment "He should be tossed in a puddle of sewage."

Epic games seems to be in a "tweener" position. They can either make Gears of War 3 for the Xbox 360 with the next xbox coming out 1 or 2 years later or they can put all their effort into launching with the next Xbox 720.

 

What do you think they should do?

a strong gears of war 3 launch with the new xbox would secure its sucess.

but then again, since gears of war 3 is the end of the trilogy, and most of the work in it is already done, epic might feel the need to bring closure to the 360.

1. graphics are pretty much as good as they will be, epic can improve pop-in, other than that, i think the fact that gears 2 only looks a little better than the first proves a limit.

2. gameplay is set, i doubt any big new elements will be revealed.

3. i mean obbiously there is work to be done, new enemies, new weapons, new story, but since all of the gameplay and graphical and technical infrastructure is already almost complete there is no reason to come out with this game sooner than later from a profit standpoint.

Fairly sure Cliffy already said something about a new Gears on the "neXt-Box".

In other words, would you have a gears of war 3 now that is pretty much equal, if not slightly better, to gears of war 2 or would you rather see a gears of war 3 next gen with a larger world, more interactive objects and almost lifelike AI and so on?

I would have the second choice..who woulden't?

But for right now..i think where good..of course theres always room for improvement, thats a no-brainer, but for right now i dont think we need another system..i would rather have PS3's 10 year cycle instead of 5.

I wish it was more like PC gaming..where you can keep your old card..but you still have some chance of running new games..for example..i can play Fallout 3 nicely on my X1950 pro...but on consoles..if i want the "next gen" experence i would have to buy a completly new system..which is annoying after years of doing it.

For once i just want the consoles to last longer than they should..because its not like every game wants the push the bounderies..

We're not talking about a new system releasing now, but in 2 or 3 years.

In 2-3 years the Xbox 360 would have been out for 5-6 years.

You have to expect Gears 3 to take 2-3 years to make, so why not release it on the next Xbox?

Kojima has geen known and loved since like 1998, hell maybe before that, with the majority of his titles ZOE and MGS...Cliffy with just Gears of War. 

I hope they finish the series on the 360 .
