Gears of War 3 Is Getting a Multiplayer Beta Next Year (DedicatedServers confirm

Gears of War 3 is getting a public beta early next year, Epic Games revealed at an event this week at their studio.

This will be the first time a Gears of War game is getting a public beta. Epic Games' Rod Fergusson told the gathered press that the team has always wanted to do a public beta, but only if they could later use that feedback to improve the title.

Now that Gears of War 3's launch has been pushed back from April to the fall of 2011, the team thinks they will be able to to do just that.

No word yet on when next year the multiplayer beta will be hitting.

These two montage videos (their in the link) show us a look at some of the brutal new death's found in online play and some of the neat new abilities and weapons. Pink guns!

Dedicated Servers confirm

Whilst the Multiplayer aspects of both Gears of War 2 and its predecessor were enjoyed by millions of Xbox 360 devotees, their experience has long been hampered by lag issues. Yet Epic Games have decided to trounce such problems by introducing dedicated servers for the latest instalment in the series.

Such details were revealed within an extensive Multiplayer preview within the latest issue of US Official Xbox Magazine, currrently on sale, where Epic also shared information on a number of new Match types.

The news comes alongside the announcement that, for the first time within the history of the series, a Gears of War 3 Multiplayer Beta is due to be held next

love it, now in addition to being console graphics king, it will have a tremendous online which was the only thing that held back Gears 2.

Gears Multiplayer is some of the worst multiplayer I've played this generation. Not just because of technical issues, but just the way it's setup, the maps, modes, weapons, it's sooooo bad.

well at least you played it unlike Killzone 2 which is a ghost town. im sure the multiplayer this time around will be awesome, but then again, i doubt you will be playing it.

This game looks pretty damn good. Visually speaking. Consider myself impressed:shock:

still find a full match why complain...both are equally meh in MP dept imo.

This is the right decision. Epic knows what they're doing now :)

lemmings need to learn what bullshots are, remember how alan wake and metro 2033 were better than any PS3 game? yeah because the screens were 16XAA/1920x1080 bullshots, stuff only PC can do

Yep all those years of paying for xbox live are finally paying off, welcome to 2006. Sony had Resistance runnning on dedicated servers at launch and without any subscription fee to tag on.

I've always called for Dedicated Servers and a Beta Test for the GeoW series, this is pleasing news...HOWEVER, I still think it's terrible and pathetic that the game was delayed just to fit for the Holiday.

I have the game reserved, and April was already a delay from this holiday.

I'm surprised at the hate for GeoW multiplayer. There are times when I've had as much fun as Halo with it - Including Gears 2 online (after the patch). I don't feel power weapons make or break a match. Besides, Horde mode was a blast.

I'm also surprised at the people that post as if their opinion is fact. People should be more open minded.

Yay! Gears 1 was fantastic online, and still has a community to this day. And wow at those .gifs.........I know they're obviously downsized but look so good. Really surprised tbh, am I allowed to say best looking game on consoles yet? :PRavensmash

tone down the GFX king comments. we know that lemmings want that title back so badly but you should worry more about balancing issues in MP than GFX king. Lest thou set thy selves up for a disappointment. (its happened too many times before)
