I was pleased when OXM said Gears of War is 'the most influential franchise of this generation.' And IGN called it a master piece, so I think it's safe to assume we'll see it soon.

Hope so. I thought the campaign in Gears 2 was a step down from the first one. The multiplayer was much better, especially with the addition of Horde, so hopefully this one will just be the icing on the cake. I think it will probably get a 9 or above.
Gears of War 1 is one of the greatest games ever made. I have played the Unreal games a lot too, and though they are good, they cannot handle a candle to Gears of War 1. The skill involved in Gears of War 1 is more than that of the Unreal games.
Having said that, Gears of War 2 is a steaming turd.

the reason why unreal tournament 3 sucked because the core gameplay was same as unreal tournament 1999 just a rehash. gears of war sucks because the core gameplay is same in all of them.

I agree with this. A game like No More Heroes can change the way people look at games, not a shooter we more or less know what to expect from.
