Gears of War 4 (release moved forward)

Surprisingly with all the delays in games we have experienced over the last several years, Gears of War 4 got moved up from Holiday 2016 to Fall 2016...

I was always under the impression it would release Fall 2016.

But that's cool.

Not exactly, not as far as Microsoft releases are concerned, Holiday implies a later release window towards the end of the year such as November, whereas Fall implies more of a September release.

November is still Fall. I do think pushing the release window forward to maybe early October could be a good thing if true. Maybe Microsoft has finally realized they are not doing their games any favors by releasing them in direct competition with all the huge multiplats.

It won't make a difference. When Halo couldn't save it nothing will.

That only good news. They are obviously on track and know they have a working game on their hands. I just need to see day time gameplay and see what it's looking like right now. It will be a looker for sure, but I'm more interested in seeing new stuff they added to the formula.

There is almost no hype surrounding this one. M$ should have let Black Tusk make that new IP instead of making them slaves to a stale franchise that ran its course.

Saweeetness, it's been a long time since Gears 3 so this should feel nice & fresh unlike that stale, rehash UC4. :P

@StrongBlackVine: I think the OP is on to something. November is technically Fall in general terms BUT not in this strict video game marketing lingo. Holiday implies November because Black Friday starts then and in the following month we have Christmas so it's generally the start of different holidays.

Fall huh... Sept-Oct release then? Hmm. Interesting. Not a bad release window, they're more likely to avoid being stuck with some other big franchise by releasing a bit sooner.

In any case I wonder what or if anything will take Gears's place for the "Holiday slot" per say. Forza, perharps?

Cool I guess, I don't like 2 or 3 but it has been years since I tried them so I may like them more now if I replay.

If my opinion improves then I'll pick this up but if not then nah.

Should they have left it in limbo and at best give it to one mercenary developer at a time and risk a lot? Remember how Judgement panned out?

I agree that a new IP would've been more exciting but you can easily see how this decision was crucial in the long term.

Now they have a bestselling franchise on lockdown. Sure, it might never reach the same heights again but it'll still do very well sales-wise.

And how is that insanely hyped Uncharted 4 of yours gonna keep things fresh this time by the way? Honest answer, please. How is it less stale?

It won't be but at least it has the original dev team so we know quality is guaranteed, Gears 4 we have no clue how it'll be.

Too soon for another Gears. I personally think it's better to delay it and release it in 2017.

We know it'll be Holidays because MS hides everything there. They don't want you to game until then like every year.

Didn't really like the 3rd one and never really played Judgement but I have to admit I'm still a little excited for it. Gears of War was one of the main reasons for me to get a 360.

maybe they're trying to step out ahead of holiday release window to make more sales before a rush of holiday success and maybe build some hype so people know what they want before the rush to the retailers begins for the holidays, and they can avoid releasing in a competitive November

So September instead of November then? Cool, I'm looking forward to seeing what Black Tush...er...The Coalition does with this series. It will not be the same with out Cliffy B's insanity, but maybe they have their own ideas.

Same time frame for me, but its good its not getting delayed.
