Benjamin Carmine was awesome. :( :PThe characters are not likeable. They're a bunch of steriod-pumping tough guys.

I actually like the characters. Esp. the Cole train :P
I disagree, though the main character seems to be such. Baird and Cole in particular a very likable characters, along with the other ones Karen Travis has expanded on. Honestly, I think they could have been the main ones. Dom and Marcus ironically are kind of meh to me. But I don't dislike them. Especially when hearing more of there back story, Marcus really grew on me.The characters are not likeable. They're a bunch of steriod-pumping tough guys.

i agree... i love the story/campaign.. but the storytelling is no unchartedcampzorUncharted does good story telling, though the plot is horrendous. I don't really see any improvement in three though for that, I doubt ND could. I think Nathan Drake and Sully in particular are pretty likable characters though.

I'll be honest; I haven't played Gears 2. But in Gears 1, I found everyone to be a pain in the ass. :(

Ironically, most Baird fans hate him. And most Cole fans hate Baird. The characters are not likeable. They're a bunch of steriod-pumping tough guys.

I think what he's saying is that Uncharted is the opposite to Gears: it has good storytelling and a bad story.

Dom sure did enjoy running directly into R.A.A.M. I think that's the part they really stood out and made me dislike him.I disagree. I love Cole Train, I like his enthusiasm and humor. He's the funnest character to be around in a game I've played since Sargeant Johnson. He really brings up the morale in Delta. I like Baird's sarcasm and cynicism, I find it pretty funny. I like Dom's loyalty to Marcus and vice versa. Marcus is usually the most serious character and so it normally helps to keep the characters more focused between Baird and Cole's shenanigans. Oh sorry, was I supposed to jump on the hate every big muscly character bandwagon? Well, I guess I don't really like Anya or Hoffman. There. The characters are not likeable. They're a bunch of steriod-pumping tough guys.

"We've gotta hit em' where they live"! (All aboard the edit train baby) Or Kim: Who's got the codes, which we have no idea what they do. I'm assuming they give him god like powers, hence the reason R.A.A.M was able to take 25 shots to the face after picking them up from his corpse. The characters are not likeable. well i wouldnt say BAD story.. Just a typical adventure story , which isnt bad by any means... but gears has aliens and stuff :P[QUOTE="UnrealLegend"][QUOTE="UDrake"] Uncharted does good story telling, though the plot is horrendous. well i wouldnt say BAD story.. Just a typical adventure story , which isnt bad by any means... but gears has aliens and stuff :P It's pretty mediocre, N.D expands on it a bit. The story telling is pretty good, from what I can tell. It's the back story that really pulls me to a series, I don't know. I heard there's a book coming out for it, I might give it a read. Many games share that problem. I like the backstory of Resistance and Halo for example, but cant stand the ingame story...but gears with likeable characters? No, I dont like One Liner usin, steroid pumping, meatheads.

[QUOTE="mccoyca112"]Benjamin Carmine looks pretty Non-Steroid using. :P\ As does Baird and Jace. Along with every female character. It'd be tough to list every minor character for such as well. But the only really large characters are Marcus, Dom and Cole. Meat heads can be lovable, as well as have a personality. Many games share that problem. I like the backstory of Resistance and Halo for example, but cant stand the ingame story...but gears with likeable characters? No, I dont like One Liner usin, steroid pumping, meatheads.

Calling the plot great is far too generous. Perhaps 'adequate' would be a more fitting description. Greatness requires a lot more nuance and originality than a bunch of meathead jocks fighting to save the world from an alien invasion. Proper characterisation is non-existent and the story in general feels like an afterthought. The best thing that can be said about it is that it never gets in the way of the action and doesn't interfere with gameplay.
Gears 2, on the other hand, is a great example of a horrific plot dragging down the whole experience.
[QUOTE="Merex760"]But we all know how much people love those movies :/ I don't get what you're referencing. You changed your attempted depiction of Gears as a transformers movie with a bad plot to story telling?I think you need to play more games if it truely is one of the best plots you've ever seen in a game. Gears of War has just as much story as your typical Michael Bay movie.

The story related generally to Gears 2 was horrible. Not the plot. The back story really is wonderful, read the books and or comics. Even the biggest of meat heads seem to carry a lot of personality along with it. :)Calling the plot great is far too generous. Perhaps 'adequate' would be a more fitting description. No. Prince of Persia SoT trilogy has a good story. Legacy of Kain has a good story. Assassins Creed has a good story. Gears of War.....not so much.another gears of war 3 thread made by a lvl 1, should I even be surprised anymore?
But anyways, by action game standards, gears of war had a good story.

Also if you going into a Gears game expecting some deep psychological evaluation of the human psyche as it is ravaged by war then you have done the equivalent of going to a club dressed in shorts, flip flops and a cheetos stained vneck[QUOTE="UnrealLegend"]I disagree.
