As a PS3-only owner from this gen it flat out depresses me that I can't play this series. A true goldmine for the 360, sweet Jesus. I couldn't give a fug less about Halo which to me is THE most overrated thing in existence, but goddamn Gears is really something. Enjoy it mofos.

Gears of War is a pretty good series thus far; a lot of fun to play.

But don't fret, if you didn't have your PS3 you wouldn't be able to play Uncharted, MGS4 or LBP. Just look on the bright side of things and play Gears when you go to a friend's place. :)

As a new 360 owner I can tell you that imho Halo > Gears. Gears has a fun SP to play coop with friends but imo that's about it, Halo will last you ages cause of the MP alone!

I prefer the '3 punch in the face' execution. That never gets boring.

I bought PS3 over 360 for a reason, you know ;)...

Buuuut that's not the point of this thread. The point is Gears is a sick game.

I really liked Gears of War when it first came out, but looking back it got really repetitive. Gears of War 2, however, has a fantastic campaign. I was pretty blown away by it, even if it had a relatively anticlimactic ending.

But don't feel too bad. I got a PS3 last night for Christmas, and I don't know how I got this far without playing Metal Gear Solid 4. It won Best Graphics and is sweeping the awards for a reason...I didn't quite understand until I played it. For six hours. Until 3:30am. Which is when the game told me that it was past 2am and I should take a break

Agreed. Little touches are great...like how a TV in the background is set on "Hideo 2" instead of "Video 2" or little references to past games.

The graphics are phenomenal. Screens don't do the game justice...everytime a cutscene transitions directly into gameplay I have trouble believing it.

Gears has panache. Very few games have that. I'd say that the first halo had a little bit of it, but lost it as the sequels arrived.

Gears 2 doubles its panache rating. Seriously, other games copy that style. The whole concept of the gameplay is well done.

It sounds like a good book. There are a bunch of books that I've read that I wish I could read again for the first time.

Gears isnt that great, Halo is much much better imo. Im just playing Gears 2 now, and Epic pretty much suck at storytelling. Soundtrack is also weak, although i expected as much, and for some reason im starting to hate Marcus.

Actually, Gears is sort of an overrated, generic, casual shooter. But it's ok...maybe some of the Gears fans will one day move up to actual, quality shooters.

like in mgs 1 when the screen goes black and says "hideo" in green writing, for a second i genuinly thought my scart cable came loose, only a split second though :P
