This thread is for all the Gears of War haters who keep making threads again and again saying this game sucks and it's just graphics cause it seems they are pissed off their console doesn't have it :p
Just like the Halo is crap thread this one is for you guys to tell million of people how they are dumb for liking the game.
On that note I played Halo for the first time on the weekend with my dad and it really sucked. I think I'll try the PC version on my own at some point, but it's tough to take the game seriously when the aliens act like gremlins.
Yea GeoW shouldve been high AA, too few weapons, the bow made no sense over the shoot first ask questions later gameplay. The Friendly AI was stupid. The CNN runing camera got old fast.
I dont think GeOW deserved a 9.6. Low AAA though , like 9.1 or 9.2. It just gets old at times, theres only a tiny bit of weapons.Also, it does get boring sometimes. Just duck and shoot, duck and shoot. Halo 3 will destroy GeOW though.
GeOW deserved every award it got, and the 9.6 GeOW is a superb game with excellent gameplay and graphicsR-Dot-Yung
nah, 2-3 hour long story mode. the insane mode is more like normal. online gets boring. to easy to kill by chainsaw and fragtag. graphics are only decent because of the light/dark contrast. lack of decent weapons. hammer of dawn and torque bow are only good ones. but a good cover system. whats with the black blood too?

Well this thread is for Fanboys who like to state their opinions as facts on Gears of War and tell us that the game is just graphics and millions of people are dumb
This game deserved every bit of its 9.6. The enemies were amazing, the cover system was great, the active reload was a nifty new feature not really seen in games before. The intensity was crazy on insane.  Friendly AI was not great I'll admit, but not nearly as bad as GRAW.
4 hours of hiding behind concrete and shooting a full clip into guys and not killing them. Not to mention the crappy multiplayer with only 4 people on one team. I'll take Rainbow Six Vegas over this pile of poo poo anyday.

Have you even played the game online? The chainsaw is a joke up against the shotgun, and the tags are basically there for humiliation factor now that they got gimped.

Actually, the bow made a lot, lot of sense.
Bow= more powerful the more you charge it, which means that if you wish to have a very, very powerful (actually, a instagib) shot, you need to put yourself in danger for longer than someone who's just sprayin' and prayin'.

I have a 360, but I dislike Gears because of the community, there's a couple of good people but about 90% of the people are douches, so I sold my copy.

Incidentally, I am not a big fan of Gears. And the fact that millions of other people buy it has absolutely no relevance--I suppose that comes with being able to form one's own opinion.
This just goes back to a statement a friend of mine made a few years back..."dude, crap sells."Â Just sit and think about that for a minute...and if you're still not convinced, just take a trip to your local Wal-Mart and let me know how many "high end" / "nice" things you see there.
That's not to say Gears is "crap", btw...it's just not all that special.
gears is a pretty bad game. fun at 1st then you get over the visuals and then nothing to the game. dcm06
Obviously you have never snuck up on someone plugging your teammates with a sniper rifle and chainsawed him in half, or gibbed half the other team with a boomshot, or gone on a rampage with the gnasher....

... You watched a gameplay video only, right? The blood is clearly red. The singleplayer is 8 hours AT LEAST Insane is very difficult Graphics are extremely detailed. Chainsaw is easily thwarted *sigh* You didn't post opinion, you posted lies.
I beg to differ. The gameplay in Gears of War is rock soild. For years to come games will try to immitate the cover system and camera effects that make the game so intense.

No why this game is a landmark Graphical and for gameplay. When it was coming out it honestly expected a flop because i was thinking the Gameplay might be a new way but it might not be a fun way even as a 360 owner.
You know, I've played a lot of gears and resistance. And at first, I though resistance was really good, even more fun than gears (maybe because systems helped give me a lowered expectation of it) But after a weak, I have no idea why, but resistance was loosing it's appeal. I have not idea why!!!!(and don't give me any fanboy comebacks like "because it's teh suck!!") Gears of war has a better lasting appeal and that is why it got the better score (and it has better graphics)
Edit: BTW, unlike halo, gears is actually good :D lol jk...

I'm not upset about the GeoW rating, but PDZ was rushed crap and should be re-rated. As for Gamespot bias, I don't buy it.
Gears of War scored a 9.6. It deserved it. Now, get over yourselves and accept it. Geez.

I wonder how much it will sell. I think less then the first Halo but who knows. I mean Halo kept selling for a long time and even stayed at a high price for long time, atleast in toronto it did where I saw it. Gears could be the same.
But I think it well sellaround $5.5 - $6 Million copies. Gears of War 2 will do probably same as Halo 2 did or better depending on how the game is really. I think they should do online with more options and bigger maps and have a longer campaign, that would easily make GeOW2 sell about $7 Million atleast IMO

nobody on here is talking bad about gears because they dont have it, all the criticism is coming from people who have beat the game or own the game, read some of the posts next time.

Actually I'm talking about the SW thread in general hipster dufus... And many many many of the insults for Gears and Halo stem from the fact that it's a high rated and huge selling exclusive franchise that Fanboys, mostly Sony, don't have for their console. If Halo and / or Gears was on PS do you think the majority of these Sony fanboys would still be calling Gears garbage and overrated? obviously

DECENT? its a technical graphical achievement AND a benchmark for other games to this date.
