I'll give in to the vapourwqare game. You know the one where the guy is flying and throwing things with his mind. Maybe it isn;t vapourware maybe it's now a PC only game but I do recall at one point it was labelled for the 360.BumFluff122

It's not out yet, but that game looks like it will have best physics engine.
Also that physics engine alone makes it must have for me.
Probably still Source.
Which doesn't say much for the interest of modern developers in complex physics now does it?

Well someone said Crysis so I said Star wars: Force unleashed.

no matter what PC you have....it will never run the game well without a dedicaded PPU....even though thats not actually true....and the game can be tweaked to run excellent without one.

Its out now ...its just that it plays bad and even if you run it at a steady FPS there really isnt much enjoyment out of the experience.

I played the demo with my 6600gt with 1 gig ram and a P4 processor. It ran okay... until I shot one of those millions of barrels and it turned into a giant domino effect and well... My framerate was at 1 the entire time after.[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]The Source Engine...F-Minus
Has nothing to do with it, while it uses Havoc.
The source engine makes full utilization with the Havoc's engineand source is also optimized without sacrificing much FPS. This cannot be done with the Havoc engine alone however your right that Havoc was the key ingredient that made Half Life 2's physics tick.

Im sorry but this is to much....people just start hyping certain things about games just for the name.....I have even seen a few lemmings start saying that masterchief has a deep personality.....and Halo 3 may have good physics for all I know ...but no way is it better then many other games....particulary crysis.

Well of course Havok needs to be integrated in the game engine, that uses it - that's a given. But give credit where credit is due. The physics engine in HL2, CS:S and other source games, is Havoc and VALVe really didn't come up with it, they just implemented it.

it is havok...but its a very modified and upgraded....as clear from the fact that no other havok game comes close to the source engine.
Very few devs make their own physics engine (crytek is the only one I know of at the top of my head)

Id Software is the other one. I guess it's a question if you want to spent time on it or not. So far, what HL2 showed us is fun to play around with, especially garrys mod, but for me (my opinion), the physics in HL2, didn't have such and astronomous impact on the gameplay aside from 2-3 puzzles I remember going through and the gravity manipulation gun, which was copied and done in the Doom 3 expansion pack Resurrection of Evil on the basic id physics code.
So in the end, I'm not saying lazy or crap developers, it's their choice what they want to do :). But Source is dependant on 3rd party Havoc, which comes into confilict if they ever want to release the source code for source (like for example id does with their tech engines) as havoc is not their property - but that aside, it gets the job done, the games are great and that's all that counts.

I wish some of these people that know Crysis is better then every other game on the planet would just post their review of the game... being that that have played it. And Halo 3, and Killzone 2, and Haze.
With all these people having already played Crysis, and letting us all know it owns everything, I bet Crytek sure is mad about the code getting leaked and everyone already having it.

it doesnt have anything to do with playing it....you can tell just from looking at crysis that it has better physics....does halo 3 let you pick up any object? does it let you destroy buldings board by board? does it let you cut down a tree at the point of impact and then use the tree as a weapon? does it have vegitation that moves around your body rather then staying still like it would in real life? does it have vehical component damage?
you dont have to play the game to know crysis has all of these....just look at any of the videos.

So is that your offical review? I call BS untill any of these games are out and on the market. You can see all kinds of things in a video.... should I bring up a ton of promises not met, or gameplay ideas inferred from hype vids that companys put out? Drink all the Crysis kool-aid you want. It doesnt make the game good.
And that goes for Halo, Killzone, and whatever other crap you want to point at thats not in a disc tray and playable.

Well I partly agree with you, but then again it's pretty obvious now that Crysis will have all the mentioned details packed in the game, this aside, it's a PC game - they rarely get downgraded feature wise.

Or..... we could watch this video and say the physics are great.
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/18589.htm
Believe me just watching that shows the physics in action. Besides even Gamespot says that its physics crush every other game.
deffinetly still Half Life 2....but Crysis will easily overtake it.
cobrax75
eff yeah
crackdown???wtf that game sucks
Half life 2 still has better, realistic ragdolls over Crysis. Although Crysis and Cellfactor( don't know if its still a go) have amazing overall physics.DivergeUnify
Half-Life 2's ragdolls aren't all that impressive. Even Far Cry has a more responsive ragdoll system than HL2. The Source engine, other than the Cryengine 2.0, overall does the most impressive things with physics. But I've always thought HL2's ragdoll was one of its weaker parts. Enemies don't really react all that impressively.
Garry's mod. Best physics playground for years to come.
