As a franchise, which one is more popular (has more fans, sold more, played the most, etc...); Gears of War, or God of War?

I can't believe I'm going to use vgcharts as a source, but I am and change what I said. GOW 1,2 = 3.5million GeoW = 4 million world wide.

It has sold more copies WW (4 million) than both God of War games combined.

GeOW is more popular and sold more, but I think God of War is more fun.

Plus, I'm still pissed that you have to pay for new maps.

I think God of War. From what I've seen on this site it has a large fanbase, and minimal critics. Gears has a large (But slightly smaller than GoW) Fanbase, and a bunch of haters.

Gears of War easily. GOW is great but it came out when the PS2 had a huge unit base of players and Gears came out when it was like maybe 8-9 Million and yet it has sold three time what GOW did when it first came out. Meaning part 2 will do even better.
