unless epic totally screws up (witch is doubtful) GeoW2 will get a 10 and from what i have seen its GeoW1 with some shiny graphics and new modes

I think the score will have an impact by the story. Because they are claiming it will have a better story.

urg i dont see it getting a 10. always small complaints like 4 player splitscreen not available or not 10 players only comments...you know what it will score a 10 done

Gears of War was one of a very small amount of next-gen shooters when it first came out.

Now, we've got Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Crysis and Bioshock. Gears of War 2 can't be more of the same and score higher than it did the first time.

At it's release Gears was amazing but I don't think the same formula at the end of 2008 will be a 10. They would have to really go above and beyond, and while I think Gears2 will be great, I don't think it stands a chance to get a 10.Couth_

if the game is better than the first one, has new gameplay elements, a better online etc etc I think it should get a 10/10, although I never agreed with perfect scores since no game is perfect... but i assume a 10/10 score doesnt mean perfect but that the game is amazing and of high overall quality..

I'm just going to say never say never. When Metal Gear Solid 4 got a 10 my exact words were "are you serious?"

Then I played it and it quickly became my one of my all time favorite games and definitely in my opinion the best game thus far this current generation.

Gears of War 2 so far looks like its going to deliver the goods so far to me it looks like a 9.5, I could be .5 off the mark though......

GTA4 had a pretty good story to go with it and is why it got that score. I ddoubt GEOW2 will have a story even close to being as good as GTA4. The game will be tons of fun but I dont think it will be story driven since the first gears story was mediocre at best and was very short.

It will be lucky to keep a 9.0. Gears success was due to the fact it was going against PS2 games, Gamecube games, and Launch 360 games. IN ITS TIME that was worth to Gamespot a 9.6. Over rated if you ask me then.

I just finished MGS4, and I can not begin to explain how awesome this game was playing it on the hardest difficulty. The ending was great and every element fit well. It deserves a 10, Gears had a slightly fun MP with host lag and a short single player with not flavor to it. Its not worth a 10 and it will hardly be a 9.0

Dude after GTAIV, and MGSIV getting a ten is going to be really hard to do. Both of these games excelled in graphics, sound, and were innovative. The only in the games weren't amazing, but the SP was. A decent SP won't cut it, and thats why it won't be a Ten. IF its just a rehash of GeoW 1 it won't even be AAA.

My belief is that if this game has everything that Cliff and what some of the previews state in the magazines come through in the final verdict I really don't see why it would not be a 10. I mean the first one was a 9.6 and if the second one improves on the graphics, has a better story line I really think it will get a 10. I mean what was the negative thing that really hurt this game from getting a 10 in the first place? A short campaign and no story what so ever. That really hurt the games rating. If they can some how pull off a good story and improve on all the things they said they would plus have all the features they are saying its going to have in the final product. I think it will get a ten.

It's highly unlikely that it will get a 10. It's the second of the series on the same console, it would have to be revolutionary from the first to a perfect 10.

That's why GTAIV and MGS4 got lucky to be the first of the franchsie on the new platforms. It has a bigger impact from going from PS2/Xbox to PS3/X360. Gears so far looks as good as the first, however it doesn't look like it is bringing anything to the table that warrants a perfect 10.

btw saying gamespot will want to give it a 10 to "level the playing field" is hilarious. I think they could care less for the most part what we think of their review scores. If they did they would have felt "pressured" to give PS3 a AAAE much, much earlier than they did.
