1. VGChartz lol

2. PS3 is very strong in western Europe, UK aside. Now that the price has gone down, it has become the bro-gamer console, for people who buy 3 or 4 games a year, first and foremost Fifa and PES. I haven't seen statistics for my country yet, but I'm positive the PS3 did very well during 4th quarter in France too. I work with malls, and people there told me PS3s and Wiis were flying off the shelves.

Not big news. Japan has been losing relevance fast as hell for years. In fact, some expect the EU region to best the NA region for videogames in the next few years. Japan really doesn't matter very much anymore. Only a few truly relevant companies are left, one of them, of course, being Nintendo. Who manages to stay successful by making games for everyone. (do you ever look at Zelda, or Mario and say to yourself, "yeah that's a Japanese game all right"?) As opposed to other Japanese companies that try too damn hard to make games that "appeal to the west" and do a horrible job at it.

That's because VGChartz doesn't consider digital sales. The PC is the dominant platform in Germany by a large margin.

By the way, Japan is in dire need of PC gaming. It's a fact.

Japan has a massive second hand market. The second hand market is about the same size as the first hand (?) market. That's why Japanese software sales are low. (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=27535512&postcount=278) But in YTD, Japan beats Germany and is about the same size as the UK.

it's the population size that matters, or else Canada would be one of the largest markets.

no they dont, the data clearly shows it. I also could argue since pc games are second in sales in germany, there are even more sales in the download sector and even more in the pirating sector. I buy used games too and we have gamestops too here. Also people who buy used games tend to sell or trade their used games for other used games. Youre some kind of Japanophile who is sure is white and is from german ancestry like all americans.

I know. I'm just saying that Japanese sales appear low because a lot of games are sold in the second hand market, which won't appear on sales charts like Chartz, who only guess the new sales. [QUOTE="HFkami"] no they dont, the data clearly shows it. Great job at ignoring my post. Japan used sales are bigger than German used sales. Go to both countries and you'll see. In Japan you're not allowed to rent games so the used market has exploded in popularity and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. And nope, I'm Asian who lives in Canada. No German blood whatsoever. Gosh, if you're going to try to make me sound ignorant, don't sound ignorant yourself

so youre asian??? What chinese, korean or thai??? And you defend japan tough your ancestors are not japanese???My main point was youre japanophille doesnt matter where you from.. so now lets come to the point of used games its pointless fact, it doesnt bring money to the devolopers so i just ignore your fact cuz i cant proof you wrong but you cant proof me wrong as well. There are no specific data on every used game in every country like germany in comparison to japan, just like with downloading.

german ancestry makes 16% of all americans, they are higher than blacks which are probably from many other west african countries if you could track it and some mixed black people have european ancestry as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_American

PC gaming is actually big in Japan but they play PC games that are only available to them and not to the rest of the world.

Why do you care? Who cares really? This doesn't affect anyone. I am aware though that Eastern Europe for instance has a very high amount of PC devs, but no one cares abotu them because those games usually suck. I don't see how one country selling more games than another is important in anyway whatsoever.

That's what the word means? Why would someone want to be something they arn't? But I don't see anything wrong with admireing some things about a culture, for instance I find that Japan seems to have better family values in their culutre than we do here in the US, I also admire how they take care of their elderly more.

Also when the Tsunami and earthquake happened the Japanese people weren't rioting or killing eachother, if that happened here in the US you can sure as hell bet it we would have behaved like animals. That being said, you shouldn't want to be somthing your not.

I'm a Jewish American so that's my culture and ethnicity, and I have no desire to be Japanese or Italian or Black ect...but I can still admire and appreciate things about that ethnicty and culture. I don't see what's wrong with that. I kinda agree with your point nonetheless, be proud of what you are and don't try to be something else.

That's what the word means? Why would someone want to be something they arn't? But I don't see anything wrong with admireing some things about a culture, for instance I find that Japan seems to have better family values in their culutre than we do here in the US, I also admire how they take care of their elderly more. Also when the Tsunami and earthquake happened the Japanese people weren't rioting or killing eachother, if that happened ther ein the US you can sure as hell bet it we would have behaved like animals.

That being said, you shouldn't want to be somthing your not. I'm a Jewish American so that's my culture, and I have no desire to be Japanese or Italian or Black ect...but I can still admire and appreciate things about that ethnicty and culture. I don't see what's wrong with that.

So what you're saying is, Japanese people will do anything their government asks them without any objections simply because of their standards of manners?

What he meant is they are more civilized and less barbaric then Americans.

When did I bring up the Japanese government? But Japan from what I understand is a very submissive society, and they have different values. For instance over in their culture being shy is considered a sign of strength, don't know why. I have never been there before but I have friends who are from there or families areand that's what they tell me.

I still don't see what this has to do with Japan's Government.

so youre asian??? What chinese, korean or thai??? And you defend japan tough your ancestors are not japanese???My main point was youre japanophille doesnt matter where you from.. so now lets come to the point of used games its pointless fact, it doesnt bring money to the devolopers so i just ignore your fact cuz i cant proof you wrong but you cant proof me wrong as well. There are no specific data on every used game in every country like germany in comparison to japan, just like with downloading.HFkami
I'm not "defending" Japan, I'm stating the facts. You have to be Japanese to defend Japan now? I'm not even German, so why should I "defend" Germany?

I don't care about either. If you're going to have country warz do it elsewhere, this is System Wars, and you have to argue with facts, not with "you're not Japanese, so you're not allowed to say anything pro-Japanese".

Germany's gaming industry value at €1.937 ($2.46 billion) billion in 2010

Japan's gaming industry value at $5.9 billion in 2010

Now take your nationalist crap elsewhere.

If being civilized means being xenophobic then you're right.

lol that's not what I was trying to say, just that when it comes to a time of crisis they act more civilized than we do here. Not that they are more civilized as a whole than we are, and I like how they take care of their elderly where over here we kinda kick them to the curb and try to forget them. And I don't think that's right. Thier society does have problems though, like I don't like how most Japanese stay at one job their whole life and over work ect...

Okay, so what? If I'm right, I'm right. I can't help it. Only a fool would claim that the German game market is bigger than the Japanese one. It's common sense that Japan is second biggest after the US.

Sounds like North America frankly. Except remove the manners.
