G-FAQs poll results show at least 48% not interested in Vita. Whats Sony doing?

Yes these numbers would make any Sony fan worry, they're not looking all too good. Is Sony making the same mistakes Nintendo did with the 3DS's launch? Should they lower the price (especially in the UK)? No matter how you look at it, these poll results are disappointing. Sure, poll results on a dedicated gaming forum isn't the whole picture, but it does say something when many of the 23000+ voters in this poll are core gamers like us. A sample size that big isn't anything that should be ignored.

My opinion? I personally think the price is fine especially after knowing what the hardware is made of and all the new features we're getting. They also have plenty of games I'm interested in. Even so, that only makes me part of the 13.29% minority on that poll. What is the issue here?

I voted "Problem is the combination of price, game and/or release date".

I have both a PSP and a PSP go, both of which were bought for me a while after the original release date because they were fairly cheap and I had said all along that I was dubious about owning a hand-held especially given the price of the console and then the games.

And that is the same problem I have with the VITA. While I do realise that it will have someof the best graphics possible for a hand-held device and that there'll be some pretty good launch titles, once again the price is a major problem, especially given the launch price looks to be more than for a PS3, there is no guarentee that after launch the majority of publishers will develop for the VITA, plus with the advancement of technology in a coupleof years time the next generation of household consoles will be available and then the hand-held device will be virtually obsolete.

The problem is that it is a handheld gaming device.

The price is unthinkable imo, i would definatly wait for a huge price cut a few months later, like 3DS

Also it has no games i want yet, 3DS for example has like 50 games (some from DS) i want to buy right now

Actually 64, according to Nintendo.com. Though some of those games arent out yet. So yeah I guess 50 is about right.

They should do this same poll and instead of targetting the vita specifically, target handheld gaming.

Apple is eating Sony and Nintendo's lunch in the portable space.

My problem with vita is that it's a bit pricy and the games it offers are something i'd rather play on a big screen and with an actual controller.

Personally, as to the Vita, I think it's overpriced at the moment. That and the line up just isn't strong enough for a sale, IMO.

Its a Gamefaqs poll, if their results were indicative of what would actually happen the Wii would have bombed big time.

I bought a psp, the only time I use it is to play ps1 classics which is pathetic because of how bad the titles are.

The pspgo has yet to prove to me that it wont be another psp. Sure the titles at launch are okay but just like the move, are they going to support it 2 years later?

It's missing a good library. It has a few heavy hitters, but they aren't anything that are going to be remembered throughout the life of the system. They rarely have games on the level of Uncharted 3, Halo Reach, etc...

simple, there's just not enough solid announcements to justify a Vita right now.

It's normal for ppl to be cautious at launch with fewer games, look how poorly 3ds did tell they dropped the price way early

GameFAQs does not represent anything . Everytime there's a poll like this such as "are you getting a (insert system here)", the answer is mostly "No" or "Never".

These are the same people who voted Launch as greatest sidekick ever.

I wouldn't take ANYTHING seriously from GFAQS after that.

Sony isn't doing anything wrong, necessarily, but handheld systems aren't worth the price of a console and i-phones/android phones and tablets for our 'mile a minute' society are making portable gaming systems obsolete.

Just because it is loaded with bells and whistles doesn't make it worth a steep price.

But in all seriousness, Gamefaqs community is garbage. Every system that gets released seems to be drawing "no interest" from their polls, so take anything you see on their with a grain of salt. Take it with a whole bag full of salt.

Considering that not everyone who visits gfaqs are handheld gamers and that at least 36% of those who visit the site are interested, I'm thinking sony is doing everything right. For the entire gfaqs community, 36% of them being interested is pretty huge.
