This may seem random, but as someone who studies animatiom at university and uses 3D cgi software, I wanted to say how I though that the overall presentation of the game is superb. Lighting, animation, texture quality etc. all amazing. Where Halo Reach (as good as that game is) failed to capture that sense of scale, Killzone 3 wins hand-down. Some of the cutscenes and gameplay segments from the single-player (where the ISA ship crashes and explodes when they try to evacuate comes to mind) is mind-bogglingly huge. Its a testament to just how awesome Killzone's game engine is and how good their animation department is. - - - I do think that the models, particularly for the Helghast in multiplayer are great. The Helghan tactician looks so cool. I'm glad that the models are Stahl's private soldiers as the models, the normal ones from KZ2 looked great, but these look so cool. Super shiny :smileyhappy: Lots of people might complain, but nobody could have pulled this off, not on this scale, not with visuals even half as good as this, (Crysis what?). Well done Guerilla games. Well done :smileyhappy:

No, really though, KZ3 does have some great character models. Not the best models in the industry... not even close, but still great.

You really shouldnt have brought Crysis into this. :(

No prob. And if you are interested in 3d character art then Zbrush is a program you must learn, so you may find yourself on that site more than you'd like to be. :lol:

Just wondering do you work in 3d? I noticed you seem to know a few things.

And if so do you bake out AO maps as an overlay for your diffuse, or do you use cavity maps? I know they're both similar concepts, but I've been getting better results with cavity maps, yet I still see so many going with AO overlays.

Blender is great though. Not my program of choice since I'm much faster in Max and Maya, but Blender is just as good as any of the big dogs if not better in some aspects. Definitely has better UV layout than the Autodesk twins. And sculptris is ****ing fantastic. Its as close to voxel sculpting as you will ever get with polys. Still though, if you ever dive into Zbrush you wont be looking back. I know its not free, but it never hurts to check out an evaluation copy. ;)

I have messed with Maya and Zbrush before(Family member has them), and while Zbrush seems godly, there is just something about Maya i don't like, the UI seems cluttered and unintuitive as hell. Yeah, Maya has always been known for its steep learning curve. Even Maya pros tend to screw up alot on their video tuts lol. Maya 2011 is much improved though. I'm mainly a Max guy myself, but its just because thats where I started into the world of 3d. Honestly though, the UI isnt too user friendly either, but you use anything enough and it eventually becomes second nature. I still haven't gotten into Softimage, but I've heard great things. Non-linear morph targets sounds like a god-send, but I'm not really much of an animator. Give me Max, Zbrush and Photoshop and I'm good to go! :P

If there's one thing GG is great at - and I don't give them credit for much because I still think they're a mid-tier developer - is great animations. Their animations look just dandy.

Whole game is awesome. best graphics easy and in HD with best AA;)

The animations in the cut scenes are so awkward. The characters' movements and mouths are totally out of sync with the voice overs. I don't know what you're impressed with really.
