Glad I was wrong about FF7r tanking. (chews crow)

I posted/responded at least three times here that I thought FF7r was gonna flop, glad to say I was wrong! Usually an 85 or higher on metacritic is a sign a game is great and FF7r was sitting comfortably at 87 with even some perfects!

So what are your thoughts on the final product SW? Any word on how long the game is?

40 hours acording to the gamespot reviewer, also we have another huge thread about this...

Is it the whole game? Heard they were breaking it up into parts..

So... GS just gave a remake of a part of a game a 10?

A part of a reboot, actually. And it was a 10/10 adventure (to GS) that had 30-40 hours worth of new story and content. This isn't the same FFVII we played in ps1. It's so much bigger than that. And once more people get their hands on it, they'll see the big difference themselves.

Yea you’re still getting a 30-40 hour game. There are people here who bought Resident Evil 3 at launch and that’s literally a 6 hour game.

Yeah, sounds like a good game.

I generally don't like JRPG's or most Japanese games for that matter--a little too flashy for me, not a fan of the general art direction or needlessly complex mechanics, writing, and story--but I keep giving them a shot to see what if I find something I like.

Looks like I will be trying this game out.

What if Nomura was in galaxy brain mode thinking a psuedo reboot/sequel?

Sephiroth time traveled causing Zack from Crisis Core not to die. Which is weird cause Cloud inherited Zack's will so badly he was thinking he was Zack. Maybe this is why it's called Remake because Sephiroth remade a new time line?

Best change for me is that they dropped the turn based combat and replaced it with flashy action combat.

Looks so much more enjoyable.

Still not getting it until the whole thing is done.

I'm very surprised by the 10 given by GS. I expected it to get good reviews, but not a 10.

Granted I haven't really looked at it much, but from the looks of it being based on FF15 systems.... I'm just surprised it got a 10.

I look forward to seeing for myself in a few days.

Lets be real... 30-40 hours is reaaaaal short for an RPG, especially a Final Fantasy.

On top of that, once completed, who knows how long you will have to wait for the next episode. This is the problem when episodic gaming in general. If I drop a game for 2 years... I will have a hell of a hard time getting back into the swing of things without just starting over.

No shame in folding... no shame in waiting for the full release. Whenever that is...

One can only dream, I will never spend full price on a paltry 40 hours.

30-40 hours IS how long the original Final Fantasy VII was. When all entries release - it'll be longer than any Final Fantasy ever was.

Then I must be mistaken... I have not played the new one obviously, but I been hearing when its all said and done you will get 30-40 hours in. If that is just main quest and nothing else... then its more in line with a typical FF game.

When all said and done in the original, I was well into the 100s. Agreed on once the full package is complete, this will be one real juicy game that I look forward to experiencing.

The original can be completed in 30-40 hours fairly easily, but you're definitely right if doing all the extras. Defeating all the Weapons, getting the Gold Chocobo and the KotR materia to help with that shit, as well as grabbing the ultimate weapons. It definitely adds up.

What could you have possibly been doing in FFVII that took you over 100 hours? Even with all the extras I had 50+ hours on my playthrough! The closest I've ever gotten to 100+ hours on any Final Fantasy was 70+ on XII and that was mostly because all that endless walking through fields.

@nepu7supastar7: Exactly what Lundy said... and for reference I had 287 hrs in my first FF12 run when I finally got the Danjuro and called it quits.
