Does it bother anybody else when people use acronyms for game names? GoW especially, it is used for both Gears and God of War.

Zomg no calls Gears of War GOW or GEOW they call it Gears...its that simple
play the game online, no one ever calls it those acronyms-everyone refers to it as gears
but if you guys insist on not calling it gears then I guess it would be GEOW (but don't)

don't you dare lolJust because some do that doesn`t mean all do. I have seen GoW used both ways many times. Personally I just say Gears, but that isn`t the only one I meant either. I don`t like acronyms in general. I understand CoD, and FF. But they are SUPER popular franchises. I have seen some acronyms that I had no idea what they were referring to.
They're annoying at first, I agree, but they begin to click into place after a while of wasting time in the forums. SF4, SSFF4, BB, LO, MK, FF, UT2K4 etc...the context in which they're used also makes them somewhat obvious. It's just a typing time saver.Just because some do that doesn`t mean all do. Beats typing out the whole game name. :PHeil68I am more likely to type the whole name, or at least the most important part. ex. Instead of Dragon Age: Origins, I just put Origins. If I do shorten a name or use an acronym, I only do it after the whole name was said a couple times first.
this one made me laugh.I only get annoyed when people say MGS when referring to Microsoft Game Studios.

I hate ""TW" for "The Witcher". Don't these kids realize that you don't use "the" in an acronym? For example the acronym for the United Kingdom is not "TUK". smfh.
I'm pretty much used to it, so no... it doesn't bother me at all.
But every now and then, there's acronyms I don't understand, but it's nothing that a simple question can't solve.

GoW is God of War, Gears is Gears of War, but sometimes people will go and use GoW for Gears. Saw it just today or yesterday (I'm assuming he meant Gears, since GoW doesn't have either an insane difficulty or co-op...) I don't really have a problem with acronyms, as who wants to type names out over and over, BUT if it isn't blatantly obvious what game you arte talking about from the context, you should type it out at least once in your post. Too many games with similar acronyms. There's the obvious GoW, which could be God or Gears. Technically, GeoW could be Gears or it could be Geometry Wars. DS could be Dead Space or Demons' Souls. SMB could be Super Meat Boy or Super Mario Bros. Etc, etc, etc.
