God of War 3 smashes all games and tops the number one in UK charts selling over a million in the week, the chart also notice how the game outsold GoW2 in its first week despite the fact that the PS3 install base is far smaller right now than the PS2's was at the time GoWII was released. Heavy Rain also gained a boost in sales durig this week

It didn't sell 1 million in the just the UK in its first week, thats worldwide. The game came out on Friday so I don't think it will sell 1 million in 3 days in the UK.

that's because the PS2's largest group consisted of the casual gamer... the people who bought God of War 1 and 2 bought the PS3 when it first came out.

Ya, I'm not seeing a million only in UK anywhere. Hell, I didn't even see a million.

I laugh at people who thinks PS2 games sequels wont sell better on PS3, PS2 was like PSP full of piracy but what kept devs making games on it was the enormous install base and anyway the article says its 2.65 to 1 and according to VGchartz GOW 2 sold 200k in UK so this one sold around 500k~600k if VGchartz GOW 2 numbers are accurate :P.

Nice to see Heavy Rain still in the top ten.

GoW Collection is out here on April 30th BTW.

You realise the sales record it broke was for a GOW game not an overal game sales record, and that Final Fantasys opening week was bigger.

The game did not do 1 Million in the Uk only.

God of War III's launch was three times smaller than Final Fantasy XIII's last week, though." if it was 3 times smaller than the release of FFXIII. that would mean that FXIII sold 3 million in the UK alone. which can't be true

good it deserves it.....it's an amazing game! GOW3 and Heavy Rain has kept my PS3 busy and my 360 sad and alone
