yes God of War 3 is a looker but any game can look that good if they lock the camera.

1.) the camera is locked, you cant spin it 360 degrees or whatever. so this avoids the game having to render a full 360 degree environment allowing for maximum polish on screen. Even Bayonetta runs at 60fps on the 360 with a full rotateable screen

2.) all this myth of GOW3 using a special Godly MLAA technique that gives results much better than KZ3, UC3 without all the flicker issues. Ofcourse the game is full of flickering and is using the same exact code KZ3 is using but the flickering is less noticeable because the camera cant pan around meaning the screen doesnt move much and flickering occurs the most when the screen actually moves. This video shows how ugly the flickering MLAA artifact is in GOW3, Myth Busted - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQXkFzCvJqQ

3.) GOW3 is so technical, kratos is fighting on mountain sized titans while they are climbing the mountains themselves...blah blah bla. Except for the part where no titans are actually climbing mountains while kratos fight on their backs, all clever Gaming tricks. Most of the titans only climb in cutscenes and during gameplay, only the shoulder, arm or head of the titan is rendered, everything else just waits to load in the upcoming cutscene. No full sized titan is ever rendered while kratos is in control, and the ones that are rendered are part of the non interactive backgrounds.

so there you have it, though GOW3 does seem to reach photorealism in some spots but only looks good because it is technically cheap, it probably has the same exact MLAA as KZ3 and the flickering mess if definitely there. there are game with full 360 camera that looks better and more technical

I'd agree, but just because the quality is very inconsistent in some areas, and not for any of those reasons.

Most games use similar kinds of smoke and mirrors. It's just the nature of the beast.

Still a damn pretty game, though.

No s***....

Why the hell would any game render something that isn't on screen? Why would Santa Monica render an entire Titan climbing a mountain when the gameplay is happening on a small section of their back or arm?

If you can't see it, then there is no reason to needlessly tax the hardware.

well thats what the GOW3 fanboys were claiming, that the game is the best since Kratos is fighting on mountain sized titans while the titans are climbing mountains themselves. which i debunked

Well he is.... its just not entirely rendered because it's not on screen. Every single game does this.

It's the most technically impressive Ps3 game though.

Well, you could make the case for Either of the 2 Killzone games also but w/e.

The best *looking* Ps3 game is Rayman Origins! :o

yes God of War 3 is a looker but any game can look that good if they lock the camera.

That's a sack full of lies. The devs from SSM have already confirmed they can pan around the camera at any point and all geometry would still be shown, check beyond3d for proof. The camera view is only for cinematic angle no more no less. MLAA works the best for GOW3 whether due to its art or clever use of color is universally approved, even by Digitalfoundry. No myth confirmed. The engine does render full titan during gameplay, check both the poseidon fight, the lava titan climbing up, the whole Cronos fight. There are a few instance when the game gets so epic in scale that you forget you're still in control of Kratos. So technically GOW3 is every bit as mind blowing as Digitalfoundry and everyone else suggest, the per object motion blur, MLAA, HDR lighting, god rays, amount of light sources, the perfect shadows, Kratos model and last not the least, the titan levels are simply a technical marvel to behold. A similar title called Castlevania Lord of shadows tried the same approach but failed on almost every graphical aspects yet still runs sub 25fps compared to 45fps average on gow3. You do the math.

OK, Uncharted 2&3 run beautifully, locked framerate with no screen tearing and they look amazing. And, you can rotate the camera 360 degrees. Nothing on XBOX 360 compares o Unchared 2 or 3. Now I'm off to play some coop arena muaahahahaa

I'm surprised Lemmings are not impressed when they play games like Halo 3 which look like it could have been done on Dreamcast.
