everyone seems so hyped about the game, claiming its the best thing to come out this year.

now it may be possible that it has the best graphics, animation, etc out of any game this year, but it is a single player only game with little replay value after beating it and its shorter than GoW2 which wasnt that long for me. so 60 bucks for a game that will last me maybe 15 hours if i take my sweet time doesnt seem like something i would be going crazy about.

heck if dragon age origins was released when GoW3 was, i'd take that over GoW3 for my ps3 since it provided me with over a 100 hours of gameplay so far for the same price.

i think if a game is single player only, they better make it long with tons of content to make up for the time other games provide through multiplayer. final fantasy is a good example, as is fallout 3 or oblivion

so who agrees? or do you want more 10-15 hour single player games with nothing else

Some people really like GoW's gameplay and set peices, therefore they will play through it multiple times.

There is a sticky for GOW3

Also, i think you might be one of the 10 persons who voted in the thread against SP games.

You should quit gaming.

12 - 16 hours is Ok these days for a singleplayer campaign. Longer game doesn"tequalbetter game.Plus there will be challenge mode of some kind. And I know I will play the campaign at least twice or thrice.

God of War doesnt need multiplayer to be successful. Multiplayer wouldn"t work here imo.

And of course if you dont think it"s worth it, don"t buy it.

God of War is a AAA series, the many people who bought the first two games/preorder this one disagree with you on the price, and hype has nothing to do with quality (and this is a proven series to boot so the hype is somewhat warrented). And besides, God of War is an action game last time I checked; action games do not tend to have 30 hours of gameplay. The game would just be monotinous and drag on endlessly if it were as long as a medium length RPG. This is coming from somebody who borderline hates the Playstation brand, btw. But any respectable gamer would realize the Playstation 3 has a likely gem on their hands in God of War 3.

.. I though the majority of the beat em ups of today including God of War are at best worth a rental and then purchasing for cheap later on used.. As it stands these games have short campaigns like FPS's but no other features like multiplayer that counter balances this.. Furthermore the overall mechanics are quite simplistic in these games of today, wheer they give you "pretend" skill pt choices but it really doesn't matter how you allocate them in the end becuase you will easily max out everything.. And it doesn't dramatically change the game. I hope I am wrong with God of War 3, I am certainly not calling it a bad game.. but it certainly looks exactly like the old ones with a new paint job, which is not a bad thing if it were not for the fact that these games were pretty shallow... This is coming from a guy who loves beatemups, for instance Marvel Ultimate Alliance had that certain thing that kept keep you going.

.. Yeah I would like to see if thats even true, these type of games are notorious for having short singleplayers.

Have you even played previous GoW games? Try it on one of hardest difficulties and then argue about lenght. Of course if you play on lower difficulty and rush it, then it might be around ten hours or even less. But then you cant complain.

.. Banging your head the against the wall numerous times does not = long game.. We can do that for nearly every game out there, some difficulties are made for masochists and extreme hardcore fans of the series..

You have a point there but you cant expect 30+ hours from this genre. It"s not an RPG. It"s shorter but there"s still something exciting going on. Form me I/d rather play this than RPG. But it"s a matter of out favourite genre.

Overrated before release? I'll agree with the other two statements in the title. Still a great series nonetheless.

RPG's usually just extend the normally short game with a very slow pace and level grinding.

:| Most WRPG's do not have level grinding to them of any kind, they are split in such a way that you level as you go.. Furthermore there is actual decision making in them.. But yet agian I don't know why this was brought up, these genres are not alike what so ever.

Well, I played both Gow 1 and 2 several times and enjoyed it a lot. I read the UK PSM review and Gow3 is going to be exactly what I expect from it. Fast paced, epic action adventure. What games do you mean by today"s standards? You cant compare it to other genres as it would be unfair. And as I already said somewhere - this game won"t work in multiplayer much so it"s better they concentrated on Sp only.

To me I just wish there were given more open environments that wasn't entirely so narative screen pushing paced.. Along with a loot system, and a real leveling system to which it actually means something to how you spend your points dramatically changing the game.. Now I havn't played the second one, but the first one was the typical model of "pretend" skill progression just like the usual slew have such as Wolverine Origins, the Starwars game.. To me it cuts replay value tremendously to a already short game.

From my point of view as a GoW fan: Die in a fire please, and shoo troll

From the point of view as a buyer: ME2 gave me 40 hours, Dragon Age gave me 50 hours, Bioshock 2 30 hours, Forza 3 60 hours, KZ2 20 hours etc etc. I got to say, the whole hack and slash action genre are over priced.

Alan Wake's only 8~10? wtf?! I expected 15~20, oh well, no day 1 for me

Yes but as long as it"s fun and interesting, who cares? This doesnt really belong here (please nobody turn this into MW2 thread), but look at FPS genre. MW2 is considered to be the best FPS ever (according to some people) but what makes it different from previous FPS games? Its the same for many years now. If GoW3 turns out to be at least a bit better than GoW2, Im happy with it. Dont repair whats not broken.

Well, like GOW2 I expect there to be some sort of arena or challenges aside from the single player. Also the first 2 games has a ton of unlockables. Sounds to me like you haven't played either...

This would be assuming that I actually liked MW2, and I honestly did not it was a very mediocre title.. Unfortunately though besides the fact FPS's have a wide variety of ways, whether its the zany team based action of Team Fortress 2, or the strong horror elements and rpg elementsof System Shock 2.. The FPS genre has a wide variety of games that can't be niched so narrowly like the typical GoW-esque game.. Now people will constantly say "it looks like a GoW or DMC rip-off".. Thats because for all intensive purposes it usually is because it runs by a typical frame that rarely ever deviates.. Though I though Marvel Ultimate Alliance was bloody brilliant... Being a PS3/PC gamer I will for sure get GoW3, just not at that high of a retail price.

Considering the production cost of PS2 era games vs PS3, I am not surprised. Still, as long as it's a tight campaign with good story and epic set pieces that's good enough for me, it's better than dragging on

Hey guys, did you hear, none of the older games were worth buying because they didn't have MP and therefore were very short. Psh, mario, crap is so overhyped and priced that it deserved a rental, 3 hour gameplay in some. SP don't matter, MP is where its at guys.
