I think the difference between GOWIII and GOWIV will be on the same scale as the difference between GOWI and GOWII. In particular, it will be lengthier, have many more puzzles and environments, and perhaps even more boss battles.
I say this because they've had a looooooong time to work on GOWIV, I think the same amount of time they had to work on GOWIII. The difference is though that they already have the engine; it's all ready to go. Engine development takes the longest time when making a game and if it's already sorted, that's when your ideas can really flourish for bringing new and exciting things to a franchise. That's exactly what we saw when we went from the original GOW to GOWII.
Of course, there is one glaring problem; who the hell is Kratos gonna fight? After all, he's already slaughtered most of the Gods and even destroyed Zeus. It is kinda lame considering Greek Mythology wise Zeus is supposed to be topdog. Regardless, I have a lot of faith in Santa Monica Studios and am sure they will pull it off. Here's to hoping Cory Barlog miraculously comes back or David Jaffe (who's said he's expressed interest in doing so).
Another worry for me is that they're gonna use Kratos' brother instead this time around, and might just start with his story. I'm sure the guy will be good, but I'm a huge fan of Kratos. He's too awesome. I couldn't be happier if they used David Jaffe's original vision and just jump right into Norse mythology. That would have been the greatest thing ever.
Anyway, roll on GOWIV!!!!!!
