Cory Barlog confirmed to Geoff Keighley yesterday that "it's a continuation many years past God of War 3". We can see the scar on the belly, it's obvious that this is THE Kratos.

My theory on how the story may go:

At the end of God of War 3, we saw Kratos' body disappear after laying on a rock formation clearly shaped like a Phoenix. This was no accident by Sony Santa Monica. The Phoenix in greek mythos represents rebirth. Hence, I think the new reboot game will be a story of reincarnation.

Kratos could be reborn or reincarnated as a Viking, with a cool story of who he was/is as a Viking, his family (his relationship with his son) and his conquests... and then he is wronged by Odin and the gang. As he sets out on his quest for revenge on the Norse Gods he is visited by one Athena (who is now a higher being according to GOW3) who tells Kratos who he was in his past life, how he killed all the Greek Gods and that this is his destiny as a soul: to be vengeance incarnate, a deity killer.

He better not go against the God in the Middle East, I want Sony Santa Monica to be around for a while.

That's a really shitty ass story. Making it sounds like gods have nationalities and they also abide by the borders and all these weird border regulations. O_o

@zeeshanhaider: How is it a bad story? History had people in different regions who worshipped different pantheons, its myth and legend. Dont know why you are getting butt hurt about. Know some history, poeple were tribal and still are in many places in the world. No one said mythological gods have borders but they were worshiped by set tribes.

Also where did the border thing come from, I didnt get that from his idea? Nations are supposed to have borders, smaller areas are easier to govern and people in different areas have different traditions and different economies and problems. This is life, not some utopian pie in the sky marxist bullcrap that causes tyranny.

Yeah man, continue the shitty ass story of God of War.

I'm glad they showed gameplay footage, a little worried the combat is gonna be more sluggish, but God of War was pretty shallow as an action game. So maybe a change up will allow them to make a more enjoyable playing experience. Because 3 was boredom fuel for the 2nd half of that game.

My question is what exactly did they do to the gameplay/combat, people who are saying it bears resemblance to Ryse are not being inaccurate.

It is. I'm not saying that different tribes didn't worship different deities but that sounds stupid that mythological gods were confined to a set area or culture. Even if you are not talking about Abrahamic religions the gods or deities are what generally considered to be all powerful beings with none equals in power to them. Now see this:

What does it implies? It sounds like there were Greek gods but they were oblivious of the Norse gods and vise versa, or they were respecting some dumb international borders. IF they both co existed then why didn't they fight among themselves before or something? And now since Kratos is a Viking he can kill Norse gods. It sounds stupid as ****. Oh and I'm not butthurt about anything, it's just the story is so fucking awful if that's what they are going after.

So I guess we'll see Thor, Loki, Odin, Jormungandr etc.. since it's going into Norse mythology. That's pretty cool. I find Norse mythology more interesting than Greek.
