Halo is still a very good game. CE being the best Halo, imo. Goldeneye really feels bad now, though. It doesn't hold up at all.
im pretty sure anybody you ask on here will tell you halo is overrated
even me and i love all the halos
Halo is easily the best first-person shooter on consoles.
2 years.
1 million unique daily players. Amazing. :)
This day isn't even over, and 786,551 unique gamers have played Halo 3.

I could easily say Goldeneye is crap compared to PC FPS which it is, Quake II was released the same year as Goldeneye and it was far superior. Halo had grenades and melee combat but it was seamlessly combined allowing you to throw a grenade and melee attack with a touch of a buttonwithout holstering your weapon.
Goldeneye was good for its time but it aged badly. Perfect Dark was far superior than Goldeneye.
Also, Alien vs Predator on the Jaguar was the first exclusive console FPS before Goldeneye. Halo is more overhyped but Goldeneye is far more overrated than Halo.
Yep, even Perfect Dark holds up better than Goldeneye, I played both the other day and Perfect Dark just seems better, even Halo hold up as well. Can't wait for Perfect Dark on XBLA in winter 2009, it'll have updated graphics and online play.Halo is still a very good game. CE being the best Halo, imo. Goldeneye really feels bad now, though. It doesn't hold up at all.

Which isnt a good thing in any sense.I know, I loved back then when I had to backtrack miles away to find a one lousy health pack. Halo is actually bringing back healthpacks. ODST has them, and I bet Halo: Reach will have them as well. They add an extra element to combat that makes the player think a bit harder on their decisions to approaching an enemy.[QUOTE="FloWeN-UK"][QUOTE="Ross_the_B0SS"]
Didn't Halo introduce regenerating health?

I guess a regenerating health mechanic is good or bad depends. I like the way Halo 1 used it by adding a regenerating shield with a health bar, while Halo 2 and 3 had a regenerating shield and health which wasn't bad but not as good as it was in Halo 1.
Resistance 1, Crysis, and Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay did a better job of using a hybrid regenerating/health bar mechanic.
Then again, Tribes was the first to use a regenerating health shield mechanic.
Goldeneye is extremely overrated, its all nostalgia.
Halo is also overrated, but at least it was decent.
Goldeneye was a generic FPS with an unacceptable frame-rate and terrible controls, the only thing that was really fun on it was multi-player.
It's nowhere near as good as other FPS's at the time such as Quake, or Half-Life.
Goldeneye was awesome...back then >.>SAGE_OF_FIREAgreed, it was the 1st FPS I played, and I was so amazed by it, I put some hours into the single and mulitplayer. I played it a while ago and it doesn't age well. At least Perfect Dark aged well and we're getting it this winter in HD with updated graphics and online multiplayer.
regenerated health is for noobs , , thats all i got to say, theres no challenge, goldeneye did each and every single thing halo does besides online -which dukenukem for pc had that and , more
halo was good for the xbox in its own merits but it still falls short of the timesplitters , perfect dark , goldeneye doom and duke nukem and quake series, id say its where the world is not enough is , almost but not quite status
lets face it , it didnt even have ai in multiplayer so its ages behind timesplitters duke nukem perfect dark and the rest of the 007 games after goldeneye
lol
also ,,
goldeneye was more challenging because
you not only had to do missions to unlock everything you had to do them in a certain time to access cheats for multiplayer or single player ,
perfect dark evolved goldeneye , , 007 perfect dark 64 evolved goldeneye ,, after perfect dark there was timesplitters which was last gens goldeneye , ,
and was again more challenging and more fun then halo 2 or 3 , halo 1 was pretty good at least it didnt focus to much on multiplayer , but it had a good mp and sp ,,
halo 2 did nothing to evolve halo and halo 3 definatelly was overated , all they added was forge ,
theyt didnt make any effort to do anything that involves unlockables and or other game changing things like slo mo , or unlimited ammo or paintball dk mode-fat heads all these things pd ge timesplitters do
also forge wasnt actually new,
its a watered down version of timesplitters map maker ,
another thing timesplitters/ge team did right ,
halo 3 may be the best 360s got as far as fps but lets face it , timesplitters future perfect is still the biggest fps of all time with 200 selectable characters 50 plus weapons 16 maps , plus about 7 premade map maker maps , and you can make your own , on the xbox it gives you loads of space so heck , ,
and ps3 for the ps2 version , , gives you alot of space just gotta keep swaping mem cards though , same for gc gotta have loads of mem cards ,
preferable the 1080 block memcard is the best option for gc/wii
so ya , just keep thinking halo is the best ever because i have proof its not
sales prove that
overall halo sold through 8.0 million world wide goldeneye sold 8.4 million
perfect dark same as goldeneye about 8.3
ts -8.0 million -across all 3 versions of ts2
and ts3 sold just about the same , so ya
their prety much supierer in fanbase and sales, and the games them selves arent pushovers either
youll never see goldeneye again , , mods dont count sorry half life fanboys ,
and now you wont see timesplitters again , , 2 of the best fps series around ,
the clost your gonna get is this winters perfect dark re release im so getting that scrw halo odst reach and wars lol
I think the fact every game gets compared to Halo, much like this topic proves it's a standard many seem to think needs to be met. As for it not being good on the PC; So? Goldeneye wasn't on the PC. Hell RTS suck on consoles that doesn't make starcraft a pile of junk.
goldeneye is not overrated. Playing it is like watching a movie from the 50s or 60s like you have to appriciate how original they were, and how everything after that copied them because of their success so watching those now might feel like its similar to a new movie you have seen but not as good, because of the time it was released which isnt fair
id say its where the world is not enough is , almost but not quite status
lets face it , it didnt even have ai in multiplayer so its ages behind timesplitters duke nukem perfect dark and the rest of the 007 games after goldeneye

You veiw of reality is truely warped.
goldeneye is only considered the best because it is an old game and to some people old is gold even though that game doesnt even come close to todays games.but since its old that means it must be good, there are few old games that are still good even today...but very few

You said you'd give Red Steel a 9 out of 10, so be quiet.
[QUOTE="VendettaRed07"][QUOTE="SparkyProtocol"]Bungie started regenerating health and dual wielding. OBEYmitu123
goldeneye had duel weilding
True, I can show a pic of it. I'm pretty sure Marathon had dual weilding.I think they're both pretty overrated, TBH, but Halo less so...I never liked Goldeneye back in 2002 when my brother got it(odd if you ask me, because I like Agent Under Fire on the PS2 a lot...XD), and when I played it at a friend's in September we got bored after two games and went back to playing other games. XD Halo, on the other hand, I didn't like until recently...XD
GOD. i cant stand people who say that like its a good thing. IMO i think that is one of the worst things to happen to FPSs i mean come one if i get shot i shouldnt be able to camp like a ***** till my life comes back. ok it might make sense in halo or any other game where you are wearing a computer suit . but it shouldnt apply to games like codDidn't Halo introduce regenerating health?

Marathon was the first to introduce a regenerating health/shield mechanic.
their both classics. they also both have characteristics that annoy me now, but i still love playing them.
imo both are appropriately appreciated.
